Fit for Life Jun 7, 2008
Great book with wonderful recipes. It goes along with the book The China Study for eating whole plant based foods rather than animal based foods.
Fit For Life Jun 4, 2008
This book is awesome! It really opens your eyes to the lies that we've learned in school and the media. My fiance really enjoyed it too! He's changed his eating habits since reading this book. It is a must have! You'll lose weight and have so much energy. The information the author reveals is mind blowing. I recommend it to anyone who is tired of all these diet fads.
AMAZING AND INSPIRING Mar 25, 2008
This book is so inspiring! I have only started the program for a few days now and I can honestly say after the first day alone I felt so much energy! I really feel this program will keep me on the right track. I have recommended this book to everyone I know because I can not stop talking about it! You will not be disappointed with this book.
Fit for Life Works! but for people WITHOUT blood sugar issues Feb 18, 2008
If you do not have blood sugar issues, the recommendations in this book regarding food will work to reduce weight and to increase overall well being. The authors have laid out a very healthful diet making this book worth the price. However, if you have diabetes or hypoglycemia, this diet will wreak havoc with your blood sugar. The statistic is that 1 out of ever 4 Americans will get diabetes at some point in their life time and I have found in my own experience that many people have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) such as myself and not even know it. Do you get headaches? Do you feel sleepy after lunch or get brain fog? Does your vision blur? If so, then stay away from the Fit for Life (and check out the Low Blood Sugar Hand Book by Krimmel which I have lost much weight on as well and it is also a proponent of natural foods (non processed). The author's of Fit for Life are a proponent of quick absorption of food which will give you a boost of energy but it will also spike your blood sugar and this is tragic for those with diabetes and hypoglycemia. In fact, the opposite approach is warranted to have slow food absorption to keep blood sugar stable. In addition, there is much controversy surrounding the author's credibility. In an article published in the March 1986 issue of Nutrition Forum by James J. Kenney, Ph.D., R.D. who is a nutritionist at the Pritikin Longevity Center in Santa Monica, California. "Harvey Diamond obtained a "doctorate in nutrition science" and Marilyn Diamond obtained "certification in nutrition counseling" from the American College of Health Science (also called the American College of Life Science). This is an unaccredited correspondence school in Austin, Texas, which teaches a naturopathic philosophy called "Natural Hygiene." And in 1982, the Texas Commissioner of Higher Education ordered that the school "cease and desist advertising or otherwise offering degree programs without a Certificate of Authority from this agency." The school's response was that it "was exempt from the law because it was a religious institution". These are some concerning facts about the authors educational background and therefore their credibility but having said all that, eating natural water based foods is 10000 times more healthful then cheeseburgers and fries. If you have no blood sugar issues, follow the books advice and you will see results.
