Item description for Life In the Skillet by D Fanning Harold...
Travel to the good ole days of the 1950s and '60s in rural Lick Skillet, Alabama. A reminiscent reminder of the innocence of childhood and the difficulties of young adulthood, with this book you'll find yourself laughing, crying, and learning a few lessons along the way.
Based on the true-life experiences of author Harold Fanning, this book takes a humorous look at life in the Skillet. From a frog giggin' gone bad to a drag-racing grandpa, be prepared to fall in love with this small Southern community and their crazy antics. You just may be surprised how a gun-shy hunting dog and a not-so-holy baptism come together for some interesting life lessons!
So, grab your R.C. Cola and Moon Pie and settle in for a trip down Butter and Egg Road...or, perhaps in your mind, "Memory Lane!" It is a trip you won't soon forget.

Hilarious and inspirational Jan 28, 2006
If you like to laugh, you'll love this book! Each story brings back memories of my own childhood. When I'd finish laughing at the situation that Harold got himself into, I would get a second blessing from the inspirational application to life. I rarely read books more than once, but this one will definitely get more than a once-through.
Fun for all ages Jan 26, 2006
This book is fun and easy to read for people of just about any age and background. My eighth grade daughter finished it in two days and laughed all the way through it. Not only is it humorous, but its stories contain valuable life applications whether you live in the deep south or the south Bronx.
