Item description for C# for Java Programmers by Harold Cabrera...
.NET is Microsoft's answer to the J2EE platform for Enterprise Web Services. It is essential that developers know C# if they are to program for the .NET platform. C# for Java Programmers is not an introductory guide to C#, rather it builds on what Java programmers already know about object-oriented languages to give them an efficient means to master the .NET framework. This book will compare and contrast many of the advantages and drawbacks of Java and C#, allowing programmers to make informed, intelligent decisions based on the unique uses of each language.

Reviews - What do customers think about C# for Java Programmers?
A Wonderful Book May 5, 2003
I bought this book sometime ago and found it perfect for my needs. i am a intermediate level java programmer and i wanted to enter in windows programming. i tried couple of other books on c# but well....couldnt finish them all..until i bought this one!
This is by far the most straightfarword, quick and consise guide for a java programmer. it starts from ground zero and takes you to an intermediate level....the comparison between technologies helps you take advantage of your current java knowledge. All in all, the book is perfect to learn C# without relearning what you know..but here is a warning: the book may not be very fulfilling for an advanced programmer but still it is a good start for anyone!
Try the microsoft book instead Sep 13, 2002
I got this and the MS book, C# for Java Devs. The MS book is much better. This one is not very well written and doesnt cover as much.
A superb book Aug 14, 2002
If you're looking for a book that covers it all without bogging you down with impractical details, this is it--the author takes you through .NET technology from the perspective of a Java programmer. There are plenty of good, concise, working examples along with clear and easy-to-follow explanations. All in all, an excellent book written by a very knowledgeable group of people.
Covers it all.... Jul 23, 2002
This one covers it all...makes the shift between the two languages as simple as possible. The book is clearly written from the perspective of people who are not only familiar with C# and the .NET platform, but can also sympathize with those of us who feel we have already invested so much time into Java, why switch now? (like you don't already know the answer to that question...come on, it might hurt to admit it but its obvious that everyone has to jump on the MS bandwagon now and then. You don't have to stay on it though ;-). I especially liked the comparison of the applications in the two languages. This was very helpful to me.
