More About H. A. Rey & Margret Rey
Hans Augusto Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1898. As a child, he spent much of his free time in that city's famous Hagenbeck Zoo drawing animals. After serving in the army during World War I, he studied philology and natural science at the University of Hamburg. He then married Margret Rey and they moved to Montmartre for four years. The manuscript for the first Curious George books was one of the few items the Reys carried with them on their bicycles when they escaped from Paris in 1940. Eventually, they made their way to the United States, and Curious George was published in 1941. Curious George has been published in many languages, including French, German, Japanese, Afrikaans, and Norwegian. Additional Curious George books followed, as well as such other favorites as CECILY G. AND THE NINE MONKEYS and FIND THE CONSTELLATIONS.
Reviews - What do customers think about Curious George Goes to the Hospital (Curious George - Level 1)?
Classic Curious George Jan 7, 2008
I had this book growing up, and now that I have a child who is obsessed with Curious George due to the PBS TV show, I wanted to share this sweet, simple story with him. Yes, the description of the hospital stay is antiquated, but the overall message stands the test of time - that doctors make you feel better and the hospital need not be scary.

How can you not LOVE Curious George? He brings back such wonderful memories of my youth and the youth of my son.
I actually purchased this book for my son. I read it to him when I was going to be staying at the hospital for more than a month for my very first big surgery. It helped him to not be afraid and to not cry when I was there. I also bought him a curious George doll that he brought with him every single time he visited me. He's no longer afraid of hospitals and my cancer has been in remission for quite a while. I love this book and so does my son...bitter sweet memories for the both of us, but a great teaching tool.

Going to the hospital Jul 13, 2007
When I was a kid I spent some time in the hospital. One of those times was a tonsillectomy and I got this book... so when my best friends daughter had to get a tonsillectomy, I said, she needs this book! It was great! Kept her calm well they waited for the sugery to begin...Because, if George can do it, anyone can!
