Item description for Final Steps In Christian Maturity by Jeanne Guyon...
Overview The best way to describe this books is to say that it is Volume II of Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ. We had not expected to ever see a book by Jeanne Guyon that would rival her monumental Christian classic, Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ... yet that is exactly what this book does! What is the story behind this truly remarkable book? The King of France ordered Jeanne Guyon to appear before Archbishop Bossuet for interrogation. This would be a fateful event for her, for the results of that interrogation would decide whether or not she would be imprisoned. Jeanne Guyon made the decision to present to Bossuet a clear statement - and defense - of her teachings. The result was a massive three-volume work entitled Justifications. This work was later printed in French, probably appearing in only one printing. Justifications has never appeared in English, and has been virtually forgotten. Final Steps in Christian Maturity is a careful selection of some of the very best material found in that original three-volume work. Here, then, is some of the finest literature ever penned on the deeper Christian life.
(formerly entitled The Spiritual Adventure) Taken from excerpts of a larger, three-volume work entitled Justifications

More About Jeanne Guyon
Jeanne Guyon (1648 1717) wrote from the depth of her own spiritual
experiences. Growing up in France during the decadent times of Louis XIV,
she was devout at an early age, but was then caught up in the worldliness
around her. After an arranged marriage at age fifteen, she became increasingly
interested in spiritual things; and, for the rest of her life, she continued to seek
God diligently, teach others, and write books on Christian devotion. These
books have become Christian classics. Guyon paid a heavy price for her views
and her writings. Throughout her life, she underwent various trials, including
persecution and imprisonment for her beliefs. Her commentary on Song of
Songs was used against her and led to her imprisonment.

Final Steps in Christian Maturity Aug 11, 2005
This is just what I have been looking for to inhance my spiritual life.
Incredible Bite Size Pieces of Guyon Sep 5, 2001
This book is a terrific collection of parts of a book Guyon wrote to defend herself against the Spanish Inquisition. That three volume work is not published according to the introduction of this book but someone has taken parts of it and made this book. The wisdom and depth will stretch even the most devout believer and make him or her yearn for a continually deepening walk with our Lord. No need to be Catholic to read this one!! I highly recommend it to anyone that is serious about their walk with Christ.
Dieing to Live Jun 12, 1997
To me, Jeanne's best work. She comes from the death on the cross and emphasises that the Christian has died. Just like a dead body can neither be pleased or displeased by what goes on in the world, you should be like that. See or expect no joy or sadness in the things external. Rather look for everything inhouse, inside, where God lives. Then she takes the christian into the quiet comtemplative silence of God where He stares at His lover for hours and where two hearts in love meet. Maturity she says will make you simpler, easier and bring you to the ultimate...union with God
