Tuve la suerte de estudiar este libro en la Facultad de Letras en la Universidad de Buenos Aires. No solo estudiamos el texto; Celorio vino a Buenos Aires para presentar otro libro suyo, "Contraconquista", y ademas fue invitado a hablar en nuestro teorico acerca de su libro.
Para aquellos que quedan fascinados por el barroco mexicano, este libro es un viaje por la ciudad de Mexico, antigua y moderna, que presenta la metropolis en toda su gloria y decadencia. El lenguaje es saturado con referencias a poesia barroca, arquitectura, figuras historicas mexicanas y espanolas. No se porque el autor es poco conocido afuera de Mexico. Merece mas atencion.
