Item description for I Am Not But I Know I Am by Louie Giglio...
Overview The founder of Choice Resources provides a new look at success, drawn from the teachings of John the Baptist, that instructs readers how to live a more rewarding and fulfilling life without focusing on being smarter, bigger, and the center of attention, which should be God's role in our lives.
Publishers Description We wear ourselves out trying to be smarter, bigger, the center of attention. But dynamic communicator Louie Giglio's latest book puts success back in perspective. When John the Baptist said that he must decrease while Jesus must increase, he was expressing the secret to astonishing freedom...and incredible rest. This book will teach you the rich, meaningful lifestyle of being small. Free from the worries that used to strangle you, you'll radiate the power of the God who is all the things you "aren't " "I am not," but God knows my name. "I am not," but He has pursued me in His love. "I am not," but I know the Creator of the universe. "I am not," but I know "I AM " If you see life as your own one-act play and history as your story, you could be in for a rude awakening when the curtain finally closes on your tiny tale--and you discover that life wasn't all about you after all. The real story of life is God--"I AM--"the main character and true star of time and eternity. He is at center stage in all of Creation, and He wants you to know Him by name. Knowing "I AM" means embracing your smallness in light of His greatness. Savor the true meaning of life as you learn to work and rest in His power, spending your life for what lasts forever--the unending glory that is God's alone. Story Behind the Book Louie Giglio recognizes a world and culture that keeps pushing us to be bigger, to be known, to be on top, to be at the center of everything. He encourages those who know how to right-size it all. Instead of pumping up their own programs, agendas, ideas, and plans, their goal is to keep getting smaller in order for Jesus to get bigger. Regarding themselves in relation to Jesus, they have the same goal John the Baptist had: "He must increase, I must decrease."

More About Louie Giglio
Giglio was born in 1958 and grew up in a Christian home in Atlanta, Georgia. One morning at 2 AM during his freshman year at Georgia State University in 1977, he decided to follow Christ instead of the party life. That conscious decision led him to become one of the architects of the modern worship style geared towards young people with its emphasis on informal attire, expressive worship and low-key, visually driven sermons.
Giglio's ministry is based on Isaiah 26:8 - "Yes, LORD, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts" (from the New International Version).
After Giglio graduated from Georgia State University, he earned a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. After finishing seminary, Giglio and his wife Shelley began a weekly Bible study called Choice Ministries at Baylor University. After several years, over ten percent of the student body was attending the weekly study.
In 1995, the Giglios moved from Waco, Texas to Atlanta, Georgia. While flying from Texas to Georgia, Giglio began to plan for a national gathering of Christian college students; this evolved into the Passion conferences. In addition, Giglio, along with Bill Willits from North Point Community Church, began a Bible study called 7:22 for college students from the Atlanta. Giglio led this Bible study weekly until 2005.
In January 1997, Passion hosted its first conference for college students, which lasted four days in Austin, Texas. Two thousand people attended. This launched Passion to the public and it has been followed by conferences and tours yearly. The Passion conferences hosted in January 2005 and 2006 drew thousands of college students to Nashville. In 2000, Giglio and others formed Sixsteps Records, a record label for Christian worship artists. Sixsteps' list of signed artists includes David Crowder Band, Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, and Charlie Hall. It also releases live albums from the Passion conferences.
In 2007, over 22,000 students gathered in Atlanta, GA, where the missions focused on their "Do Something Now" campaign. This raised $1,500,000 for global ministries on six continents. Giglio and the Passion ministry plan on holding regional events around the US in late 2007 and early 2008, and then go to the nations of the world in 2008 with the Passion World Tour.
Louie Giglio currently resides in Atlanta, in the state of Georgia.

Truths jump off the page! Oct 28, 2008
This book gives a different perspective on eternal truths. I couldn't read it fast enough although the title says it all!
Truly words from God. Apr 12, 2008
Through out this book every page just keeps reminding us how small we are and how great God is. One part to summarize this book best, and what stuck with me the most was when Giglio explained how big this universe is... the furthest thing from our earth, and how many billions light-years away it is, then he went on to explain how far a light-year is. And the God that holds this together cares enough to have a personal relationship with you and me. The ideas and lessons in this book are truly from the scripture and as you read you can just feel the love Giglio has for the Lord. This book is definitely recommended for all believers who wish to grow closer to their savior. And recommended to anyone with questions of how great God really is, and how everything here on earth and the heavens above are His.
Excellent book Aug 23, 2007
This book does an excellent job portraying the reality of how big God is and that we as humans cannot begin to compare with him or fall into the notion that the world revolves around us. It was very encouraging reading material and glorified God in His majesty, as He is.
It was very stimulating and refreshing!
One of my favorites!!!!!!!!! Mar 20, 2007
This book is great!! It really puts you in your place and sets a perspective for your life. It's not about us and our stories...it's about God's even bigger and greater story!

Gives you a little perspective... Jan 17, 2007
I heard Louie speak at a Passion conference and decided to check out his books, and this one was excellent. I liked it better than The Air I Breathe, but they are definitely on different topics.
This book focuses on humility in the truest sense, coming to know who we are in relation to God. Louie does an excellent job of going through examples of how we try to make our story the center of the universe, turning God into a bit player instead of the star. He is a very relatable guy, and I think it helps to hear someone who could very easily think they are a big deal to seriously discuss how we have to conciously overcome that mentality to be servants of Christ.
