Reviews - What do customers think about Trigger Issues: Kalashnikov AK47 (Trigger Issues)?
AK 47's ROCK!!! USA. USA. USA!!! Feb 11, 2008
For a book meant to discourage people from liking, much less adoring, the worlds most popular assault rifle this book is a total failure. Sure the thesis that "The AK 47 is the real weapon of mass destruction" is absolutely correct. And that is why everybody (secretly or overtly) wants to own one.
Guns are exciting the same way sex without a condom is exciting. It's dangerous, stupid, and decadent. Everything an American is looking for in life. I stumbled upon this book while looking for repair manuals to the AK I own. I love my AK. It's almost everything the author makes it up to be.
But the authors do stretch the truth a bit. I'm not talking about banning the manufacture of all AK and other assault rifle manufacturing - which just aint gonna happen. Nor am I talking about the inference that all the AK's in Africa still function because "the AK will work no matter how much you abuse it."
Thats just not true. I've been to those countries - Congo, Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and many other countries were AK's prevail and most of them are in terrible condition and just as likely to hurt the owner as the potential target. AK's, though worthy of their reputation, are not indestructible. They do jam, break, and rust. They require proper maintaining.
Yes child soldiers carry them. Guess were the word Infantry came from? It's French. Do you still think child soldiers are a modern novel phenomena?
If you love the AK either for it's design or it's mystique this is a great read. Everything you ever wanted to know about the gruesome killing machine you probably secretly desire to have. The authors may not appreciate my endorsement - but I am so glad I accidentally bought this book.
