Publishers Description Here is an amazing story about a man whose life made such a great impact for God. The Bible is filled with stories of God's work in the lives of ordinary men and women who did extraordinary things for the Lord. These stories were written not only to give us the truth but also to inspire us to trust the Lord. Pastor Hsi experienced danger, adventure, persecution and great power to heal the sick. But what marked his life the most was not the great things he did for God but his deep and profound awareness of his dependence upon God. This book will challenge you to follow the example of this man. He saw the sovereign in-breaking of God, time and time again yet did not allow it to puff him into pride or arrogance. His simple childlike faith led him to take the New Testament at face value: he put into practise whatever he read. He fasted, he prayed, he laid hands on the sick and cast out demons. The reality of these experiences should compel us to search our hearts again and ask if we are availing ourselves of the authority that has been given to us. If you dare to be changed read on

Reviews - What do customers think about Pastor Hsi: A Struggle for Chinese Christianity (Historymakers)?
Excellent! Sep 20, 2002
This is one of the best Christian biographies available, indeed as are all those of the late Mrs. Howard (Geraldine) Taylor - though sadly, nearly all are out of print.
This book describes how a typical Chinese scholar was touched with the Gospel and went on to be a powerful Christian influence over his entire province.
If you can, look in a used bookshop for the original, unabridged edition in two volumes (called - Pastor Hsi: One of China's Scholars, and Pastor Hsi: One of China's Christians) which is well worth the extra paper.
winning testimony of Chinese Billy Graham Aug 23, 2001
This book tells the life story of Pastor Hsi, who was converted from a hard core Confucius scholar to a Christian who won thousands and saved many opium-smokers to health and new lives.
No doubt, any reader will wonder why Pastor Hsi's prayers were always answered, and no matter how difficult the financial situation was, there was always a solution to continue his ministry. I think, whoever reads the book will find the answer and many more for their own spiritual growth.
Anybody who wants to know about the history and lives in Central China in late nineteenth century should read this book. Also, the battles in spiritual world were depicted vividly and exemplified from many true stories in the book. Many people who doubt spirituality, or miracles, and those who want to find evidence for them, should read this book to see how real it can be.
There are so many things we could learn from the life of Pastor Hsi, a Chinese Billy Graham. It's up to you to explore and find out. Enjoy the journey!
