Item description for Nehemiah : Becoming a Disciplined Leader (Men of Character) by Gene A. Getz...
Overview A personal cupbearer to the great Persian king Artaxerxes, Nehemiah lived a life of incredible luxury. Yet, despite his pagan environment, he never forsook the Lord. When he heard of the destruction of Jerusalem, Nehemiah gave up the pleasures of the royal court to take on the seemingly impossible task of rebuilding the city. He knew he could never manage such a crisis alon: his only chance was in humbly seeking God's help. His attitude reminds us that even in our moments of greatest pain and hopelessness, we still have access to God. Like Nehemiah, we must pray persistently as specifically. Then God will bless us beyond anything we can imagine.
One in a series of twelve books by Gene Getz examining role models of the Old and New Testaments in situations relevant to modern times.

Reviews - What do customers think about Nehemiah : Becoming a Disciplined Leader (Men of Character)?
Nehemiah Jan 4, 2007
This is an excellent resource to be used in conjunction with the Bible. I used this during a recent Bible Study I taught and it provided great information and details as well as practical life application. I would recommend this book for use by anyone seeking a greater depth of knowledge of Nehemiah.
To the work! Dec 28, 2005
I first read this book when it came out and flip through it again from time to time. Solid truths that are easy to understand and apply are the hallmark of Getz's writing style, perhaps the most important being that any leader should seek God's direction through earnest prayer and then join in the work. An enlightening and quick read. I also recommend the book on David.
