Item description for Men of Character: Jacob: Following God Without Looking Back (Men Of Character) by Gene A. Getz...
Overview After his twin brother, Esau, sold his birthright to him for a bowl of soup, Jacob though his life would be one of comfort and ease. Yet Jacob paid dearly for that deception and others as he tried to fulfill God's promise on his own, rather that having faith that God would fulfill them in His time. Jacob received a taste of his own bitter medicine as he was tricked into marrying Leah, the older sister of his beloved Rachel. With two wives, multiple mistresses and children in half a dozen tents, Jacob headed a family wracked with jealousy, bickering and intrigue until he realized he must trust God completely and follow Him faithfully. Today as in Jacob's time, true faith brings reconciliation and peace beyond what even the most diligent family leader can do without God's guiding hand. The Men of Character series highlights the lives of men in the Bible whose relationships with God we can learn from today. Each of these leaders faced trials, where Christian role models seem increasingly rare, this series reminds us that some of the most worthy examples of godly character are still the biblical figures who borough power, wisdom and inspiration to God's people through the ages.
One in a series of twelve books by Gene Getz examining role models of the Old and New Testaments in situations relevant to modern times.
