I Keep Falling In Love Wit Him! Mar 14, 2007
This is definately the best book I have ever read on the subject of intercessory prayer. This book beautifully answered many of the questions I had concerning the normally infective, draining way intercessory prayer is carried out. Although at times it's necessary to command evil spirits to depart, we don' intercede from a position of "centering" on the enemy. Rather we focus on our Savior in praise, seeking his face. We don't come with a honey do list, but rather rather let Jesus reveal his will to us.
I've seen way to many depressed, worn out intercessors. They got that way from focusing on the enemy and trying to shout him down in the name of Jesus. No matter what name we use or how loud we shout, we're no match for Satan and his demons. But as we center on Jesus, and develop a closeness of fellowship with him, the powers of darkness in our lives will be defeated. Gary Wiens makes the excellent point that Jesus never prayed over territorial spirits, but rahter dealt with setting individual people free.
My favorate part of the book was the discussion of Esther. Even though the king had told Esther she could ask for up to half his kingdom, when she went into the king to plead for the life of her people, she didn't launch into her request that her people be spared or point an accusing finger at Haman, but rather let the king know how much he meant to her. That is what a banquet of wine was all about. It was a time to renew you marriage covenant and pledge yourself to your mate afresh. Esther not only invited the king to one banquet of wine, but two. She also invited her mortal enemy Haman to the banquet and acted as though he weren't even there. He had to watch the romance that took place between the king and queen, until finally she exposed his evil motives.

prayer that is enjoyable and powerful Mar 1, 2004
This book changed my perspective of intercessory prayer and equipped me to pray with joy and power, enjoying intimacy with God and growing in knowing Him more. Of the many books I have read on prayer, this one touched my heart most deeply. Gary exposes the lie behind anxiety-driven prayer and equips us through the Scripture to pray with a confidence and joy that releases the heart of the Father to a hurting world. Prayer that is powerful and enjoyable! I love it!
Makes me hear wedding bells Feb 29, 2004
I can sincerely claim that I have begged, borrowed or purchased well over 100 books on prayer since the beginning of the 1990s when God began to awaken me with a calling to intercession. I'm not claiming expertise in stating this, but simply to state that this book truly stands out among the best in my experience.
The vehement lovesickness for Jesus that Gary Wiens conveys in this book is contagious. I look for such voices who are venturing ahead into passionate abandonment and are beckoning back to us to follow them as they follow Christ. The author provides a number of biblical insights, recounting the scriptures and then sifting through them to offer us wonderful and impacting statements into both the Person of Christ and the ways of God.
If you are interested in prayer that is fanned by a heart that is ecstatic at being overtaken by Love personified, get this book.
