Item description for Dinner with the King: Communion Dramas for Youth by Gary W. Fehring...

Overview
Here's a set of six chancel dramas that will captivate young people (and the entire congregation) while helping them to learn the deeper significance of the sacramental meal at the heart of Christian worship -- and what it means to be invited guests at the Lord's Table. Originally conceived for middle-school age youth, these flexible pieces can be adapted for any size group; some can even be performed by adults. Minimal props and costumes are required, so the sketches are perfect for smaller churches -- yet they lend themselves to more elaborate presentation as well. These insightful dramas are excellent not only for presentation during worship, but also for congregational programs, youth nights, classroom instruction, or individual devotional reading. Titles include: * Dinner With The King * Passover * Jesus Food * Partytime * Youth Retreat * The Evening "Good" News

Reviews - What do customers think about Dinner with the King: Communion Dramas for Youth?

I use these dramas!  Feb 28, 2008
I have used the dramas from Dinner With The King at our Maundy Thursday services the past few years. The youth from our pre-communion class and sometimes their parents do it as a readers theatre. The dramas tell the story of communion and God's love and so prepares the congregation for the celebration of communion. This is a great resource.

Something fun and different for your Communion Service?  Oct 2, 2006
A quick Google search makes clear that these little dramas were some of the most highly-anticipated events for both Pastor Fehring's congregation and the community he served. Having these preserved and published is truly a blessing.

Stashed away in this slim tome is a selection of fine skits to be performed before a congregation's Communion. All are funny and flexible enough to be adapted for smaller or larger groups. Each is designed to be performed by the congregation's children; they could be ideal for use with a First Communion class or Sunday School.

Apart from their obvious intent to be performed before a congregation, they also make a frequently laugh-out-loud read. Take in a chapter at bedtime, and you're guaranteed to go to your rest with a smile on your face and your heart in the right place.

Christian concepts made accessible  Sep 22, 2006
Pastor Fehring has written a series of short plays for young people to perform for their church congregations, with a minimum of rehearsal, and usually a few simple props. Using contemporary wit and humor, his dramas bring to life certain parables of Jesus, and illuminate other Christian concepts in a way that makes them easy for audiences of all ages to understand. Whether performed or not, they're simply fun to read.

Fehring's Book Superb  Jun 1, 2006
Reverend Fehring has a definite ability to communicate with adults as well as kids. I recommend his book without reservation to people of all ages.

Youth & Congregation Will Enjoy & Profit  May 10, 2006
These little plays will provide a congregation & its youth with creative interpretations that develop appreciation for the Eucharist. They are easy to produce and incorporate staging and dialog that is youth friendly. They can be used for worship services, retreats or special Communion observances.
