Every woman can accentuate her God-given beauty using the hidden treasures of the ancient Scriptures.
Ginger Garrett reveals how every woman can accent her God-given beauty using the hidden treasures of the ancient Scriptures-where every scent and every act of beautification had spiritual and emotional significance. A woman's longing to present herself as physically beautiful is universal. Beauty is extolled throughout the Bible as complementing God's plan for women's lives. There are currently no books that examine the beauty practices of biblical women, the plants and products God created to accent their beauty, and the spiritual roots of feminine rituals. Beautiful women abound in the Bible: Queen Esther, the bride of Solomon, Delilah, Rachel, Sarah, and more. Their beauty was a gift from God, and God also supplied the many foods, spices, and oils that perfected each woman's appearance. In Beauty Secrets of the Bible, Ginger Garrett helps readers accent their God-given beauty using these secrets. Women who read the book will understand the essential oils and fragrances mentioned in Scripture (and why they are making a comeback) and will be able to create a regimen based on all-natural ancient products and techniques. Beauty Secrets of the Bible gives readers what other beauty books lack: the knowledge that a woman's unique earthly beauty is indeed a blessing from God that can be cultivated.

Reviews - What do customers think about Beauty Secrets Of The Bible?
I wish I had written this book! May 4, 2010
I have been searching for this book for a long time!
As an author passionate about God's design for eating, I have been "hungry" to learn about God's design for face/hair/body/beauty care. I have searched for years for the best products at Whole Foods, but somehow I could never believe that pricey, man-made products were the answer, no matter how "natural" they were. When I tried dabbling in my own "natural" toiletries, the results were mediocre at best.
Enter "Beauty Secrets of the Bible." This wonderfully simple book combines credible research (and source citations) with practical, simple and inexpensive ways for us to care for our bodies.
The chapter on weight loss should be read by every woman, since it provides astute insights into why most of us are so focused on our looks/weight in the first place; it provides a new vision for how to think about our weight and body shapes. It also provides practical tips for achieving a *healthy* weight, which I believe is God's design for us (not a size 2). I also loved the chapter for skin, which helped answer my ongoing question, "How do I best care for my skin, without spending a fortune, and in the most natural way possible?" Garrett also digs into the "inside-out" issues that impact our skin quality, such as diet and lifestyle.
What I liked most about this book, however, was its unfailing, continual attempt to uncover answers to these issues from God's perspective, using a variety of Scripture verses, "creator"-type thought processes, etc. While I did not agree with every single point (for example, Garrett urges readers to use sunscreen to protect their skin, while I tend to believe God designed sunshine for our good), I think most of her attempts to discern God's will for our bodies were right on.
You won't be disappointed by this book, especially at such a nice price.

Excellent Book.... But There's One Major Problem! Mar 31, 2010
I love the information that Ginger gives in reference to women, and their ancient beauty regimens, as well as the daily devotionals, and scripture included which expresses God's Love for us all and how he has uniquely created each of us. Very very very inspiring and wonderful. I myself however have developed a chemical free makeup line and have done ALOT of research on makeup ingredients. Ginger recommends Bare Escenutals aka Bare Minerals as a Makeup line to use. This company includes Aluminum as an ingredient in their makeup. Yeap it's a mineral alright, and one that will cause you possible health problems. They also include Bismuth Oxychloride in alot of their formulations and this is technically a mineral but not one you will find residing in God's creation - The Earth. It is a by-product of the lead and copper manufacturing process and is used by many companies as a texturizer because it gives a very silky finish so they don't have to grind their product as long, and has been linked to many sensitivites of the skin and unexplained erruptions. They also use some preservatives in their products. So they say it is all natural minerals, but it is not due to these issues. She also references Burt's Bee's. They have questionable ingredients in some of their products as well. Ginger also references Aloes which are named in the Bible as being Aloe Vera and gives wonderful ideas on how to use this plant. However if you research this Aloes which is refered to in the Bible is what Sandalwood Essential Oil was called during Ancient times. It was used to not only treat health issued but to embalm the dead. You can not embalm the dead with Aloe Vera. Just won't happen. So I had to give it 4 stars due to premade beauty items not being properly researched, as well as the facts on finding out what Aloes really is. Who knows, if it had not been for my deliberate research on Essential Oils, I may of assumed it was Aloe Vera as well. Overall the book is just beautiful and Ginger is a wonderful woman of God very obviously. She does give alot of wonderful insight on whole foods which I did appreciate greatly. I'd just double research any product suggestions if it isnt a whole food. I thought this would be a good foundation for presenting a new way of pampering to the women of my church who are true beauties as well. Our congregation is a mix of God's world and I see the beauty in them all weather they are Hispanic, Caucasion, Asian, African - and so does he. This book also beautifully points this all out. The devotionals are wonderful. They let you praise and worship God in so many ways as well as see how much he loves us and lets us know it is ok to beautify ourselves. God wants us to take care of ourself and to look as divine as he created us. It is all to his glory :)

This book has really good natural based recipes. The book also offers great advice!
Great Non-toxic Beauty Regimen Nov 2, 2009
I recommend this book to anyone wanting to get away from questionable ingredients in cosmetics and go all natural. Recently, I read an article on WebMD that supports the author's claims about toxins in beauty products and what they do to you. I am trying her suggestions and so far love the results. If these tips were good enough for Queen Esther and Cleopatra, they are good enough for me!
Interesting, Informative & Inspiring Aug 14, 2009
My daughter-in-law told me about this book and I ordered it as soon as I got home! It is a short, easy read full of very useful information presented in an interesting way. The author seems to have thoroughly researched this topic. The beauty treatments that she gives are made with ingredients that most of us have in our pantry, but she also lists resources for the less common ingredients. Also her resource list includes websites for cosmetics and body care products that do not contain harmful ingredients and preservatives. I am telling every woman I know about this book!
