How to Live In the Moment Oct 6, 2006
Your Heart Knows The Answer should be required reading for anyone who is feeling lost, or wants to have more self-love in his or her life. It has made a big difference in my life, mostly in the way that I consciously try to be in the moment as often as possible. Learning to achieve this presence is a process, but Gail teaches us that self-awareness is the key.
A self-help book that truly breaks the mold, Your Heart Knows The Answer offers insightful ways to recognize the voices of your heart; voices that are accepting, non-judgmental, non-authoritative, yet also visionary, creative, and celebratory. With each chapter, Gail offers affirmations and meditations, and encourages journaling to dialog with your heart.
In her chapter on Expressing Your Creative Self, Gail details how each of the Nine Muses from Greek Mythology might impact our own creative explorations and discoveries - having been a blocked artist, this chapter was exceptionally motivating for me.
Gail also offers a loving chapter on accepting and honoring your body - whatever physical shape its in - it serves you in so many ways. Only by showing compassion and respect for your sacred body can you make any changes in a responsible and healthy way.
Perhaps the most enlightening chapters for me are the last two: Opening to a Spiritual Partnership and Discovering Your Truth in the Moment. We are taught not only how to recognize our Higher Self, but to respect and honor Her for what she communicates to us. Would she choose to be in a relationship that doesn't foster spiritual growth in some way? A spiritual relationship can allow us to go deeper within ourselves and challenge us to renew and even heal ourselves. No matter your level of self-esteem, you will also learn to recognize whether you are sacrificing your self-respect to be with someone who doesn't value or honor you as a person - and that you may be losing your sacred sense of yourself in the process.
The last chapter reminded me of the importance of living in the present moment - that it is the only way to live as an empowered, creative person - and the only place where your higher self can communicate with you, to bring a sense of peace and acceptance. Gail suggests that when painful things happen in our lives - and they will - that we should choose to be accepting of them, rather than to resist Life. Resisting life and harboring anger can cause us to suffer. Honoring our truths include an awareness of anger, disappointment, doubt, fear, jealousy, joy, compassion, ecstasy and divine love. Experiencing the entirety of our lives is the only way we can truly find contentment. Although this book speaks primarily to a spiritual awakening in women - a man can also find that his heart knows the answer, despite having lived most of his life following the voices in his head.

Making the right choices for your life isn't very hard to do, once you know how. The problem is that we don't know how! Finally, this great book has come our way giving us just the right guidance on how we can get out of the negative "voices in our head" and start learning how to really listen to the "voices in our heart." The messages that we receive from our heart are the most positive and unconditionally loving voices. These voices are connected to our Higher Self that wants only the best for us. Our Higher Self wants us to be happy, healthy, prosperous, and always feel that we are unconditionally loved. Once you are truly "in-tuned" with your Higher Self and you learn to really listen, your life will miraculously change for the better!
Learning how to tell the difference between the "voices in our head" and the "voices in our heart" can easily be determined by how you "feel." Are you happy? Are you joyful? Do you feel unconditionally loved? Or...Are you always putting yourself down and feeling unworthy as well as unlucky in many areas of your life?
What do you truly desire? That is the big question! If you want and choose to have a great life, filled with abundance, joy, prosperity, and unconditional love...you CAN have it! All you have to do is learn to listen to the positive voices of your heart and stop giving in to the negative voices in your head.
Gail Harris is a marvelous author and I couldn't put this book down since opening the first page. She gives us so many examples of what happens when we do listen to the voices in our heads as well as showing us how our lives DO improve by listening to the voices in our heart. I noticed an improved change in my own life by the time I got to the second chapter. By the time that I had read through the whole book, my outlook and practice of listening to the voices of my heart has made a huge positive change for me.
If you have been suffering with anxiety, stress, or just feeling overwhelmed with life (and who doesn't) I promise you that if you read this enjoyable book and do some of the personal ceremonies and practices that she recommends, you too will be feeling so much better. You will learn how to change your stress filled days into minutes, and hours, filled with more positive control and peace than you have ever had before!
Don't allow your EGO (the negative voices in your head) to have control over your life any longer! You will feel so good about yourself by the time you finish reading this book that it's like you've turned from a caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly!
Every woman on the face of this Earth, of every age, should have a copy of this great book! Thank you so much Gail Harris for helping us all understand what beautiful women we are and showing us the techniques that allow our true souls to shine through! You are such an inspiration!
If you have a heart, this is a must read !!! Feb 14, 2006
I originally read this book because someone very close to me was reading it, and she was very inspired by it. She read me a few passages over the phone, and I could immediately tell that this was something that spoke to both of us. Since I am interested in her personal growth and what she's like on the inside, it also peaked my interest. After starting the book, I soon realized it was written primarily with women in mind. However, I could very much relate to many of the topics and feelings Gail discusses in the book, so I continued reading it. I'm very glad I did. For the past year, I have discovered a lot of things about myself and who I want to be. After reading Gail's book, I realize now, how important it is to both follow your heart and listen to what it's telling you. That is the only true way to live. 'Your Heart Knows the Answer' is written in a powerful, yet down to earth way, that I think everyone can easily relate to. Honestly, I don't read many books, but this was so inspiring and eye-opening that I couldn't put it down. I've always been one to 'do what I'm supposed to do', always think with my head and don't 'rock the boat'. I don't think enough people truly stop to listen to the voice of their heart or do what makes them passionate. The most incredible experiences and people in your life may pass you by if you don't take the time to see them right in front of you. Being in touch with your heart will help you recognize those opportunities and embrace them. After reading this book and sharing this experience with the special person who I originally read it for, what's truly in my heart will always be my first priority. What Gail points out is that often the answers to things we struggle with, are right there in inside of us, and if we take the time to really listen to what our heart says, we will discover that for ourselves. I would definitely recommend this book to both women and men who want to get in touch with who they really are on the inside. Thank you, Gail, for sharing your personal experiences and your amazing insight. For those of you who have ever had any trouble getting in touch with your heart, or you've simply always wanted to, this book will serve as the perfect map.

I love books that lift the spirit and inspire personal growth. The problem with so many books in this category is they don't stick. In other words you read them and in a month or two the information is gone. Not so with Ms. Harris's book. I read the book when it first came out and found the information transforming. I listen to myself differently, my inner voice sounds more healing now and I am more comfortable in my own skin. The book has staying power and that is rare.
This book has changed my life! Nov 19, 2005
This is truly one of the most wonderful books I have ever read! Being a person who has struggled with self-doubts, agonized over making decisions, questioned many of my choices, and worried about not doing everything absolutely perfectly, this book has been life-changing for me. For many years, I have been very focused on self-improvement and have been in search of "the answers" and the "right" paths for me. I have looked for these answers in hundreds of self-help books and many other places. Thanks to Gail, I now truly understand and believe that the answers have been within me all this time! Although I know that the work I've done in the past (including counseling, journaling, talking with friends/family, reading other books, etc.) has all helped me a great deal, it has always seemed that there was something missing-- I still felt lost and confused in many ways. I truly believe this book was the missing piece! Gail gives structure and clarification to some things that I (at least somewhat) knew but couldn't completely verbalize, understand, or incorporate in my life. She has helped me to see that I just needed a little help and guidance in getting in touch with "the voice of my heart" and my "higher self," which I've now been able to do. The timing of my finding this book absolutely amazes me, and I swear it powerfully changed and improved my life almost immediately. I am now recommending it to everyone I know (both women and men)! Gail is so completely open, honest, supportive, encouraging, helpful, and beautifully spiritual. I like that it's not a religious book per se-- but spiritual, in a very gentle and loving way. And I love that Gail not only explains the ideas and truths, but also gives journaling guidance, prayers, affirmations, and ideas for ceremonies to help the reader truly incorporate the ideas and truly change her/his life. I am so thankful to Gail for sharing herself and her insights with the world. Thanks to her book, I feel happier, more confident, more at peace, and more in touch with who I really am than ever before. I highly recommend this book to all-- with all of my heart!
