Item description for Beyond the Scandals: A Guide to Healthy Sexuality for Clergy (Prisms) by G. Lloyd Rediger...

(PUBFortress)What constitutes misconduct? Which legal, moral, and religious norms apply? How is the church liable? A leading national expert investigates the current scandals, discusses how and why they happened, and proposes useful guidelines for preventing such behavior in the future.

Publishers Description
Recent sexual scandals have rocked the North American religious scene and left the churches concerned about credibility and liability. What are the bounds of clergy sexuality? What constitutes misconduct, and what legal, moral, and religious norms apply? More broadly, what has gone wrong, and how can clergy understand their own sexuality and their lives of service? Lloyd Rediger is a uniquely qualified national expert on all these questions with a strong message for clergy about their sexuality, spirituality, and behavior. In this timely volume, which incorporates material from his earlier volume Ministry and Sexuality, Rediger brings his extensive research, clinical experience, and theological insights to bear on the topic. He offers a comprehensive, authoritative account of clergy sexuality and sexual ethics with up-to-date legal information; helpful research on ethnic, gender, and denominational factors; a religious and moral framework for understanding clergy sexuality; and analysis of the sexual problems encountered by clergy. (Learn more about Dr. Rediger at his website.) This volume could well become the standard pro-fessional resource for clergy in a new era of increased accountability and moral reflection.

Reviews - What do customers think about Beyond the Scandals: A Guide to Healthy Sexuality for Clergy (Prisms)?

Typical liberal mainline gibberish  Jun 9, 2009
This is the third book Rediker wrote that I have read. The first two books were published previously and were fairly loyal to the Word of God, the Bible, albeit with the Reformed tilt.
Apparently, some of his church officials or fellow PC-USA members chastised him to bring him to write this book, which does contain some good clues to temptations, but apparently, sexual sins really are more of a person-to-person "issue" than a sin before God, as revealed in Scripture.
This book is loyal to the standards of the mainline churches--i.e. the Democratic Party platform is the only "word" that is inerrant. For a person who holds a high view of Scripture, I'd look elsewhere.
