Item description for The Cure: The Hero's Journey with Cancer by Frank Lawlis & G. Frank Lawlis...
Overview G. Frank Lawlis developed the fable in The Cure--about a wolf who consults other animals for a cure for a mysterious disease--as a way to help people with cancer confront their fears, solve the mystery of the healthcare system and become active participants in their own healing. The Caregiver's Guide explains how to use The Cure as a therapeutic tool, explain the symbolism of the characters, and help listeners manage stress and participate in their healing process. The cassettes included in the kit, available separately, introduce the use of storytelling as a therapeutic medium of support and education, and use imagery exercises to facilitate self-understanding and problem-solving.

Broaden the Cancer Conversation Apr 24, 2009
This book invites us to look at cancer from different perspectives. The characteristics dominant for each animal are ours as well, and we feel somehow empowered by recognizing all of that. It is a fable, prompting valuable dialogue opportunity between humans.
