Discover what the path to Life is really about Apr 7, 2008
I just finished reading only the first chapter of this book, and so far I have been excited to find Fred Miller's invitation to walk with God in the way the Disciples of Jesus Christ did.
Fred starts out the book by challenging the widely held notion by evangelicals of many denominations and backgrounds that Salvation is simply attained by praying the sinner's prayer sincerely. He cites many examples from the life of Christ of how Jesus instructed men that wished to inherit eternal life that they must turn from their old life, and even give it up in order to truly experience the life of God.
I too have found a similar thing in my experience growing up in the church, where I learned that to "not go to hell" I had to "accept Christ as Savior." However, like many others I'm sure, I didn't have a real grasp on the full implications of "accepting Christ" for many many years. In accordance with what Fred seeks to assert is that Christ must be Lord of your life and Savior, and that in Him being Lord, you must follow Him in all areas of life.
This book is an excellent read so far, and I'll be sure to update my review at the end! Recommended for anybody who wants to uncover more of their faith.
Wow! A Challenging, thought provoking book! Aug 14, 2006
I love this book. I was continually surprised at how many areas of life Fred Miller touches. Of course the point of the book is to allow God to touch all those areas of my life too. This book helps us know how to be the person God wants us to be - in all the areas of our lives. It brings things together so that we can know how to have that close relationship with Jesus every day. Good Job! I highly recommend it.
