Item description for The Weakness of God by Fred Cuthbertson...
Overview The Weakness of God examines the character of Jesus Christ's life as a man and how his life relates in comparison to today's Christian men. The book touches on the fallacy of the so-called "macho mentality" prevalent in men. It answers the misconception of Jesus being a passive and docile man at all times. Gospel accounts of Jesus contending with religious groups such as the Pharisees are noted and discussed. Each chapter illustrates a quality of Jesus as a pattern for believers to follow. The book shows Jesus as an emotional and sensitive man who exhibited moments of crying. It reveals how crying and prayers will touch the heart of God and rebuts the myth that man should not cry. It tells why Christian men should shun the worldly attitudes of today and conform to the attributes of Jesus. It explains the compassionate Christ's regard for the weak and his defense of women's rights. It demonstrates how men are to be benevolent leaders in the home and the church. It explains mutual submission in the marriage relationship. This is an informative, relevant book that espouses the issues that affect Christians today and provides biblical answers in living a fulfilled life in Christ.

Anoited Manuscript! Oct 10, 2003
Elder Cuthbertson's book, "The Weakness of God", is inspiring! I found myself taking notes! I love how he is constantly referring to the Bible. By doing so, you can research the Bible yourself and verify that what he speaks is the unadulterated truth! He is admonishing men to walk as Jesus did. Even though this book is geared toward men, we women should take that advice too. Elder Cuthbertson paints a wonderful picture for men to follow. They will be blessed by God and honored by their families if they adhere to God's word and God's way for their lives.
I would recommend "The Weakness of God" to anyone who wants a clear view of what is expected of a Godly man. If you have sons, they should read this. If you have daughters, they too should read this book. Any young lady with intentions of marrying should read this book, because it will give her a clear cut description of what she should be looking for in a Godly man. If you are a young man with intentions of marrying, you most definitely should read this book, because I feel that it is an excellent blueprint of what a man of God should look like.
I found that "The Weakness of God" speaks directly to the issues that plague our men today. Elder Cuthbertson shows men how they are currently dealing with these issues. He sees many men acting macho or trying to "tough it out", when they really want to just honestly express their apprehensions. On page 42, Elder Cuthbertson writes that men should be able to express themselves freely without feeling embarrassed. Sensitivity and empathy towards others shows Godly character and consideration. What man - Godly man - does not want the character of God? Elder Cuthbertson explains God's vision for man clearly; do what Jesus did.
Elder Cuthbertson assures us through God's word that our handicaps and limitations don't hinder God from calling us to fulfill His will. Don't you want the power of Christ to rest upon you? In II Corinthians 12:9, Paul writes, "And he said unto me, `My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.' Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
In conclusion, Elder Cuthbertson writes on page 28, "When my heart is God-oriented to do the thing that pleases Him, I become a blessed individual sufficient in whatever ministry I'm called to do. My manner of life will reveal that it's no more I, but Christ who lives in me to accomplish His purpose."
I believe that this manuscript was anointed and prayed for before sending to the publisher, because it is truly an anointed manuscript!
Review of Weakness of God by Divine Eloquence Aug 24, 2003
The Weakness Of God by Frederick L. Cuthbertson Reviewed by Rudelle Thomas
Frederick L. Cuthbertson has once again used his writing to lead us into deeper understanding of God. This book shows us God in the flesh, JESUS! It shows us that He was as human as you and I. What we go through, He went through. It shows us some of His characteristics. Jesus cried, showing men that it is ok to cry. He was meek and compassionate, yet He still used the authority given Him by God the Father.
Though Jesus was in the flesh, He did not walk after the flesh. Many times He stated that what He said and did was the will of His Father. Jesus knew that the only way He'd be successful in doing what God sent Him to do, was by sticking to God's plan. We are to take that example in our own lives, and "stick to the plan" God has given us for our lives. Jesus knew the word of God. He not only spoke it, preached it and taught it, but He LIVED it!
This book was written to demonstrate how to be God's man in a sinful world. Though I am a woman, I was thoroughly blessed by "The Weakness Of God" and was able to look at my own weaknesses in a different light. This book helps us to understand that our success in walking out the steps that God has ordered for us to follow, is in conforming to the attributes of Jesus. Men, it's ok to let that "macho" attitude go. Being macho and being authorative are not the same thing. Being macho may impress 'people,' but it will not impress God! He wants you (all of us) to be more like Jesus. He gave us an example to follow. I encourage everyone to get a copy of this book and really apply it to your own life. It will change your attitude and way of thinking!
