This book helped me get started with V-tiger. Would recommend if that is the path you are going. Of course, there aren't many books out there on this.

This is not a review of this book but of a similar work by the same author. Also this in not a review of the vtiger CRM.
After downloading an almost worhtless $10 127 page pdf from Frank Piepiorra titled "vtiger CRM user and administration manual V5.X Second Edition" I would need to have access to a section of this book on line before I even consider thinking about the viability of the book. The 127 pages of the pdf could be reduced to about 15-20 useful pages (I really feel generous today). The downloaded PDF contains screen images of the various data entry sections of vtiger and tables of most of the entries (some of them are incomplete) with what the author may think is a description/clarification of the entry. More or less the majority (not all but a substantial amount) of the entries are like these samples (Field label: author "explanation"):

And so on. Each entry is about "you may use..." "You may select ..." "You may enter ..." but very few explain what the entry is all about why and how you could or should use it. Don't look for internals, customization or hooks to expand the product. Whatever is there isn't addressed with any depth if at all.
I can but wonder if the lack of substance is the reason he is not offering an online chapter sample like other authors do. Just wondering aloud ...
I'm giving one star because he sprinkles some valuable tips, navigation comments and what he calls "important notes" in the downloaded PDF and I have to believe he will do the same with the book.

I have been following vtiger's path and I was quite surprised when I found this book out. vtigerCRM is a beautiful open source application that deserves more time to look into. The book is geared to users and administrators and it does a good job of covering these aspects from the users and administrators point of view. You will find this book easy to read and follow through.
