Item description for This Day We Fight!: Breaking the Bondage of a Passive Spirit by Francis Frangipane...

Overview
In this day of advancing evil, will the Church wake up and fight?

There is an enemy at our gates. Though you may be aware of Satan's assault, are you praying with authority against him? If not, it is probably because Satan's first line of attack is often a spirit of heaviness, which renders Christians passive and, thus, defenseless against the unfolding battle. Indeed, if you aren't praying against the enemy, he is probably stealing something precious from you--and it may be the heart of a loved one, the future of your church or the destiny of our nation.

Author Francis Frangipane tells us that the call of God is a call to war. As we stand at the cusp of a major spiritual awakening in our land, the Holy Spirit is ready to impart a fresh anointing to God's people--an anointing that will activate the "war mode" in your heart.

Ours is not a time of peace or surrender. No, this day we fight!

Reviews - What do customers think about This Day We Fight!: Breaking the Bondage of a Passive Spirit?

A Word of Edification and Encouragement To Believers  Feb 23, 2007
In this book author Francis Frangipane delivers an uplifting word to the Body of Christ. This word being: Rise up in prayer and shake off passiveness. His message is one of hope and encouragement, to not loose heart, but to pray and take hold of all that God desires for the lost, you, your family, nation and what ever else God has put on your heart.

I didn't take much away from the whole "timeline" aspect to this book (i.e. pre-millennial/ post millennial), which I think the author made reference to in attempts to encourage people to continue to pray and petition for the world they live in, rather than just give up on it because it's all suppose to go to pot anyways.

But what I did take away was the overall message: to be encouraged to rise up and not be passive in prayer; to aggressively seek God and pursue my enemies (in prayer) until they are overcome. I believe that this theme was well presented and that the sum text was not only scriptural, but also edifying. I found this book very encouraging and it stirred my desire to pray with a fresh anointing and understanding.

Relevent for the day!  Nov 9, 2006
It is time for the body of Christ to arise with the authority that has been given them, enter the enemies camp, and take back what has been stolen from them for generations. This book will give wisdom and inspiration to help you do just that. Our women's group talked about it so much that the men decided to form a group of their own. They are flying through it and it is making a difference. Enjoy!

Can We Fight the Hype?  Dec 4, 2005
A word of advice: If you plan on reading Francis Frangipane's This Day We Fight, do so with your Bible open and by your side.

The book itself is divided into three sections. Section one is full of Frangipane's thoughts and theories concerning the nature and practice of spiritual warfare. No doubt these ideas were formulated over years of study and experience. But if there is solid Biblical evidence to support these theories, Frangipane makes little effort to reveal it. The scriptures used are-more often than not-used anecdotally, isolated from surrounding passages. For example, the foundational thought behind section one is the subtitle to the book: Breaking the Bondage of a Passive Spirit, because according to Frangipane, God "has not called us to passivity; He has called us to war!" As proof, Frangipane sites Revelation 3:5-16. Unfortunately, he ignores the fact that Christ's obvious rebuke of the church in Laodicea was due to their arrogant sense of self-sufficiency when in reality they were poor, blind and naked! Frangipane also ignores the fact that the Spirit's advice to those believers was to go to God as the source of their emptiness-not to go to war against some contrived spirit of poverty, blindness and nakedness. Even more odd is the complete departure into Frangipane's thoughts concerning terrorism and Islam that dominate the last half of chapter three and all of chapter four.

By contrast, section two, entitled Exposing the Enemy's Weapon is classic Frangipane and has many encouraging and inspirational insights for believers. It speaks directly to the issues of spiritual disappointment, discouragement and weariness in doing good while giving believers a solid, Biblically based response pattern that is full of wisdom, faith, trust and humility. If the entire book had been written in the style of section two, it would be another classic on par with The Three Battlegrounds.

Overall, Frangipane has many good and insightful things to say, not the least of which is his heartfelt cry to the church to awake from her slumber and engage in a sober and vigilant battle against the rampant darkness that pervades our society. Unfortunately though, his message is so heavily intertwined in the mire which is a militant, over-hyped approach to spiritual things that he often seems to ignore sound Biblical exegesis in favor of a more power-based hermeneutic. That's incredibly unfortunate.

This is certainly not Frangipane's best work. Though the heart and intent of this hero of the faith is still loud and clear, discerning readers should proceed with sensitivity to the "extra-biblical" doctrine that serves as its foundation.

Breaking the Bonds of Eschatology  Oct 6, 2005
I enjoyed this book, the only one I've read by this author. In it he reveals that he believes we are in (or very near) the Last Days, when evil will increase, the AntiChrist will arise, and we will be avoiding the Mark of the Beast and the Great Tribulation, i.e the author is a thorough premillennialist. He notes that many of his fellow believers are discouraged by the attitude, "Why fight when we know we are destined to lose?" What I found most interesting is that he argues in this book that we must fight vigorously against evil, in spite of this apparently pessimistic eschatology.

As a postmillennialist, I have different theological problems to grapple with, but I am interested by the tacit admission of how emotionally crippling the End Times theology can be.

Excellent! A must-read for all Christians  Aug 19, 2005
This is an excellent book for every Christian who has something to pray about. In other words, this book is for everyone! In this day of war, terrorists, drugs, crime and immorality, one can easily become overwhelmed by the abundance of prayer needs. We have unsaved loved ones, family members who are living in blatant sin -- the circle of our world grows larger and larger as we think about our local church family, the town we live in, our country and the world at large. How much impact can one person have against the battles of this day and age? Francis Frangipane reminds us of the authority we have in Christ! The biblical truths presented in this book, This Day We Fight!, will both encourage and empower you to persevere in your fight against the realms of darkness.

Anyone who is familiar with Francis' writings knows that his vision is for God's church to be transformed into the image of Jesus Christ. In this book we are reminded of our ultimate goal: to become like Christ. That is the heart of this book. Yes, it's about fighting for what you love and not giving up. Yes, it's about breaking the bondage of a passive spirit. But it is also a reminder that Christ is in us. Christ, who walked in authority, who conquered death and won the victory over sin and sickness, His spirit abides in us! We, too, have been given authority over all the power of the enemy (Lk 10:19); now we must walk in it and take back what the enemy has stolen. Passivity keeps us in bondage to the flesh and limits us spiritually. This book encourages us to keep the fight of faith alive within us. As we stand on the promises of God with persevering, unyielding faith and know who we are in Christ, discouragement will be replaced by courage and passivity with power!
