Item description for Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God by Francis Chan...
Overview Sometimes I feel like when I make decisions that are remotely biblical, people who call themselves Christians are the first to criticize and say I'm crazy, that I'm taking the Bible too literally, or that I'm not thinking about my family's well-being. . . When people gladly sacrifice their time or comfort or home, it is obvious that they trust in the promises of God. Why is it that the story of someone who has actually done what Jesus commands resonates deeply with us, but we then assume we could never do anything so radical or intense? Or why do we call it radical when, to Jesus, it is simply the way it is? The way it should be?
Publishers Description God is love. Crazy, relentless, all-powerful love. Have you ever wondered if we're missing it? It's crazy, if you think about it. The God of the universe--the Creator of nitrogen and pine needles, galaxies and E-minor--loves us with a radical, unconditional, self-sacrificing love. And what is our typical response? We go to church, sing songs, and try not to cuss. Whether you've verbalized it yet or not...we all know somethings wrong. Does something deep inside your heart long to break free from the status quo? Are you hungry for an authentic faith that addresses the problems of our world with tangible, even radical, solutions? God is calling you to a passionate love relationship with Himself. Because the answer to religious complacency isn't working harder at a list of do's and don'ts--it's falling in love with God. And once you encounter His love, as Francis describes it, you will never be the same. Because when you're wildly in love with someone, it changes everything.

A unique look at our Christian life and Service Dec 1, 2009
The author also has videos and an instruction book available. Used at a Men's retreat and had major impact on the group. Highly recommend for men of faith.
Why Can't I be so Crazy? Nov 30, 2009
The book is convicting. For some, they would think you were nuts for just considering loving your God enough to give Him all you have. The reader, who is also the author, is a little slow and does not put much expression in his voice. I was okay with that, and listened to the book twice. My wife found his voice boring, and she could not get into it. Ironically, she has more Crazy Love for God than I do.
Deeply Challenging Nov 29, 2009
This is one of the most challenging Christian books I have read in a number of years. The teaching in it continues to rock me. If you read it too lightly it can come across as works-based salvation, but it is clear this is not his purpose. In fact, in the accompanying DVD he goes to great pains to make that point. But the author has no problems calling us to the a life of obedience that is real and authentic. No "cheap grace" here. Not recommended for people who are young in their faith and/or prone to trying to ear God's salvation. But solid and brilliant for those who are assured of their salvation and want to seriously consider the consequences of their faith.
A Call to a Passionate Love Relationship with God Nov 26, 2009
I enjoyed listening to the audio version of this book. The author's down-to-earth, conversational style is refreshing. He encourages his readers to step out of spiritual ruts and to pursue a passionate relationship with God. Since God has shown such great love toward us, what else can our hearts do but to pursue him with love in response? I didn't find any profound or earth-shaking concepts here, but it was an extremely inspirational read. As a Christian, if you haven't read a book for some time that calls you back to your love relationship with God, you need to read this one. If you're looking for a good devotional title, this one would be an excellent choice as well. It's certainly worth the money and time spent. There is absolutely no pretense here - the author simply opens his heart to his readers. That openness and candor is the main strength of this volume.
