More About Foundation Publication Inc
Foundation Publication Inc is the Publisher of numerous Bibles including the New American Standard Bible, La Biblia de las Américas, and Nueva Biblia Latinoamericana de Hoy Bible translations.
For over four decades, serious Bible students have preferred the New American Standard Bible for its literal translation of the original texts. The NASB is still considered the most literal word-for-word English translation available. Now, with the updated language and wide variety of editions, there is tremendous opportunity for new market growth.
Holding true to this translation’s high standard for accuracy, over 20 eminent scholars recently collaborated to produce an updated edition that enhances clarity and readability without reducing accuracy. Christian leaders, students and Bible readers wholeheartedly agree—the Updated NASB is a smoother, easier read, yet remains true to the original texts.

Reviews - What do customers think about NASB Side Column Reference-Black Genuine?
Very nice Bible but... Sep 25, 2008
When I received this Bible I was very impressed with its construction. The leather cover is considerably thick and so are its pages. The binding seems tough as well. The font size is also comfortable to the eye and I personally prefer single-column as well.
However, the margins in my Bible are not as wide as displayed in the content images as well as images of the same product that I googled. I was thinking that perhaps like the calfskin edition, it underwent some quality changes. I can't return it though as I already written my name on it before really checking things out. Just one piece of information for those who are looking to this Bible for its wide margins as well. Other than that, this is a very good product.
Wonderful Bible Apr 17, 2008
I purchased the same Bible about 12 years ago, and despite how some companies find ways to make the same thing cheaper, I am really pleased to say that my new copy of this Foundation Publications edition is of even higher quality than the one it replaces. The print is crisp, and dark, and the paper is even a little thicker for nearly no shading coming through. I am really impressed with this publisher.
But I am also impressed with the updated NASB. You read that it is most accurate to the original. This is a good and trustworthy statement. I took four years of Greek in college and indeed it is in fact the closest translation to the Greek. I read both but for English clarification and rapid review, this is the only one for me. For example, and do look at something like the NLT here for comparison, 2Cor5:17 is translated exactly from the Greek in the NASB. Maybe this is a humorous way of looking at it, but if I wrote a very important letter in Greek, I would want the Lockman Foundation which brings us the NASB to translate it.
The other reviews here are really worth reading including those with the bonded leather cover edition, ISBN 0910618488 . What one describes best is the Smyth-sewn binding. I just like a quality product and the binding is one important part of why I am really happy today to get this new Bible. One feature that serves a good reading is the single-column text. It is free flowing across the page with the references (not too little--not too much) on the outside edge.
This NASB brings me the tenets of the faith, clear bases for correct doctrine, right understanding of Jesus' meaning, and is the best way to be a Christian in the best understanding of the faith. If you appreciate accuracy, a well-made book, a good value, if you are just looking at the Bible or a student of 30 years like myself, you will find what you seek in this edition.
Perfect Gift! Feb 6, 2008
This is a perfect gift. Other than the cover, this is as good a quality product as the Calfskin edition.
Lockman Foundation is truly a trustworthy, top quality manufacturer.
There is AMPLE room for notes in both the margin, the cross-reference column, and between the text lines.
Highly recommended, especially as a gift for Seminary or Bible College students. They'll love using it.
NASB Update Side-Column Reference; Black Genuine Leather by The Lockman Foundation. Jun 8, 2007
To be very honest, This bible's printing is normal( just ok! ) but not as good enough as like the one whom printed in THE USA one..The bounding is good, But only very bad in the leather's quality( Although it claim was made by Genuine leather ) to be very honestly, I used to bough a lot of bible from different publishers But this one is The bad :( WHY it was make me so disappointed about the quality!
Beautiful Bible-Well worth the price Jun 4, 2007
This is a beautifully well-made Bible and suits my needs almost perfectly. Leather cover seems very durable as well as the sewn binding and looks as if it will hold up for many years, I've had mine for less than two months so time tested it's not. If I could change just a couple of things about the Bible I would have wider margins, though it does have a nice "standard" margin for note taking, but if you have a word such as justification or sanctification you will either have to write really small or divide the word. I guess I got a little spoiled with my HCSB's Ministers Bible which has a very wide margin. The last very minor thing is I would have liked it if it were just a little narrower, not slim line or anything maybe just a quarter inch but as I said this is minor and not to be expected for a side column reference large print Bible. Something else a little strange is that at the back nestled between the concordence and the maps is about ten pages with book intros. They are very nice paragraph size Bible book introductions and it seems very strange that the publishers put them at the back instead of at the beginning of each book. Lastly, about the NASB, I love this translation, the more literal for me the better. One thing though that I wish the translators wouldn't have done was make it "too readable". For instance, in the text they used the word disappointed - "and you will not be dissappointed" with a (1) next to dissappointed noting to look in the margin for the literal meaning. In this case the literal is "and you will not be put to shame". I have no idea why they would even touch that phrase, what is wrong with leaving it - will not be put to shame? There are more than a few of these examples throughout but not enough that you can't overcome it. Just seems like they were trying to jump on the easy to read bandwagon. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this Bible at this fantastic price, as well, as the translation, and proud to carry it around, study it, and read aloud from it. I hope this review not only helped your decision to jump at the chance to purchase this Bible but cemented it.
