Item description for Scream Quietly: A Gripping Account of a Family with Children in World War II by Elizabeth Carlson...

Overview
Do you believe in miracles? What would you do if you were caught in the throws of a devastating war as terror surrounds you? Where would you turn? Who would help you? In September of 1939, Hitler's Nazi war machine swept through Poland, leaving a trail of destruction, torment, death, and unspeakable horror. Innocent civilians found themselves caught in a maze of air raids, bombings, rifle fire, arrests, fear, and destruction. They walked through streets littered with corpses, struggled to find food and drink, and fought disease without doctors or medicine. They never knew what was around the next bend as they attempted to survivie the horrors of World War II. It was in this setting that Wanda, her infant daughter and two young sons, along with her extended family members, struggled to survive the atrocities of war and the occupation that followed. This true story is one of suffering beyond human comprehension and fierce courage as Wanda desperately seeks to guide her family to safety. With chaos all around, she continually turns to her abiding faith in God for help and strength. This account is by turns violent, tragic, comic, gentle, haunting and a testimony of faith.

Reviews - What do customers think about SCREAM quietly?

INCREDIBLE!  May 21, 2008
A MUST READ!! You will think it's a fiction book, but it's for real! I had a hard time putting the book down. You will marvel at God's leading in the life of this family.

Well written - Gripping story  Apr 18, 2008
Scream Quietly was a well-written, heart-felt story relating a family's struggle to survive in the middle of chaos during World War II. The book was hard to put down. In reading this, one learns of the struggles this family encountered, the strength of their Mother, and God's leading amidst their difficulties.

A Must Read for 2008  Jan 21, 2008
What an incredible read! Scream Quietly was one of the few books that once I started reading I could not put it down. This is a true life drama describing the worst of times and survival that just keeps you wanting to know more. Have you ever wondered how you would react if you were told you have to leave your home immediately and walk away to seek shelter? Where would you go, what would you take, would you abandon your faith? Elizabeth Carlson doe a magnificent job describing the World War II events when Hitler's Nazi army swept through Poland and how God provided for one ordinary family. If you buy only one inspirational book this year, Scream Quietly is the one.

A Spell-Binding Must-Read  Dec 27, 2007
A great fiction book is disappointing only when it ends. This book is heartbreaking only because it is not fiction.

Elizabeth Carlson has written a captivating, spell-binding account of her early years in Poland during WWII. While no one should have to endure what her family endured, everyone should read this true account of their experiences so that these things will never be allowed to happen again.

Very well written, and a 'can't put it down' read. Thank you Ela, for sharing your life with us.

Scream Quietly  Dec 5, 2007
SCREAM QUIETLY is a captivating book. I didn't want to put it down and then I didn't want the book to end. To think this is a true story of what happened to Elizabeth Carlson and her family and they lived to tell it. Thank you for sharing Liz. I'm urging my book reading friends to read it.
