Reviews - What do customers think about Larousse Pocket Student Dictionary Spanish-English/English-Spanish (Larousse Pocket Student Dictionary)?
Excellent pocket dictionary with one flaw. . . . Mar 30, 2007
My rating belies the fact that I like this dictionary a lot. It gives many examples of usage that gives you a better understanding of the language. However, it has one major flaw: it does not notify you, the inexperienced student, if a verb is irregular and offers you not help in conjugation other than the examples provided, which are not numerous enough for you to be able to conjugate every verb tense. Thus, I gave this dictionary to a friend and bought HarperCollins Beginner's Spanish Dictionary, 2nd Edition (C) 2005. This dictionary is larger but still manageable, and it shows you how to fully conjugate every verb in the dictionary. My advice, though, is to check a book store first to find one that suits your taste. With a dictionary like this, it's probably not necessary to buy _501 Spanish Verbs_. Also, Larousse has larger dictionaries that do give conjugation information, but their small b&w print is harder to read than either this dictionary or the HarperCollins one, which use three colors (green here; blue in HC).
Excellent student dictionary of Spanish & English Aug 19, 2005
This Spanish/English student dictionary is simply excellent. It contains 20,000 examples of words in context, which makes learning a lot easier. The examples are of current usage cerca 2005. There are also cultural notes and tips on grammar. Anyone who is learning Spanish or English will find this dictionary user-friendly and full of helpful information. It's also very inexpensive. All-in-all I would recommend this book to anyone who is trying to learn either language. It's an investment that will pay off handsomely.
