Publishers Description "The Sin System of Our World" is simply the basic gospel message of Jesus Christ. It is a look at man's condition, that is, his condition of sin and the reason for which we all need to be covered under the blood. More than this, it is a look in general at our current world and the way some of its institutions have contributed to a "sinful system." Finally, it is also a look at the author's personal experiences related to the subject matter. As a retired New York City Police Officer as well as being a native of the "Big Apple," you might find some of Ed's insights intriguing. "The Sin System..." is more than just the 4 step process to salvation. It tries to tell it like it is. All new believers should take note. Ed Steele is a retired New York City Police Officer and native of that same town. He is not a theologian nor an ordained minister from any particular denomination. He is simply a guy who wants to share how he sees the gospel message of Jesus Christ. Ed continues to live and work in his beloved NY Metro Area. This is his 1st attempt at publishing a literary work. More importantly, he loves & serves the Lord. You might be able to relate to some of the things Ed talks about in his book, and then again, you might not. His only desire is that you would be open to reading what he has to say. Reviews - What do customers think about The Sin System Of Our World?
The gospel through the eyes of a NYC cop. Nov 6, 2008
A refreshing and highly personal explication of the Christian gospel as seen through the eyes of a former NYC Transit cop. Told with compassion and economy, Mr. Steele manages to cover all the basics in what is a very manageable read. You would expect most police officers to be hardened and cynical, but not this one. His personal story, from his painful childhood to his conversion, is especially moving. His honest description of the inner financial workings of various NYC departments is also revealing.
A must read book for every Christian Sep 30, 2008
Ed Stele has manage to write an easy to read book that explains the sin systems at work in our society. As I was reading the book I thought of the everyday sins that I and many others commit without even realizing it. This book is an eye opener and is written by a native New Yorker who has seen it all through his job as a police oficer to his personal life as a Christian. The book definetely makes you stop and think. Everything I thought it would be and more
Engaging and thought provoking Sep 18, 2008
In "The Sin System of Our World", author Ed Steele takes readers into his personal life as a lifelong New Yorker and a New York City police officer. The book is a look at the sinful condition of mankind and everyone's need of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Mr. Steele elaborates on this first by examining the some of the world's institutions, then from an up close view beginning with some of his early years growing up in New York City, and from sharing some painful memories of his childhood and teen years.
The book is written in an easy to read format where each chapter flowed seamlessly into the next and I found the issues Mr. Steele addresses to be thought-provoking and meaningful. I was particularly moved by the way he chose to forgive those who hurt him as a child. Not only did he forgive, but he went even further and offered unconditional kindness and love later in his life to those who did him harm.
The book emphasizes the importance of being a person of character in a fallen world despite all of the distractions everyone faces.
The author cites many scriptures verses throughout the book and uses different Bible translations interchangeably which I found to present scriptures in a fresh way.
It is always good to keep in mind when reading a book like this that the writer's opinion and perspective are not infallible, like the Bible. I say this because there may be few times readers may not agree with what is written and may disagree with an opinion here and there. While I personally did not run into any issues in this book that troubled me, I mention this simply because we should always remember opinions of Christian authors are frequently debatable and are not gospel. Overall, I thought Mr.Steele did an excellent job in conveying his message, especially since this is his first published work. It is because of the very unique perspective by which he tells his story that I can highly recommend the book to everyone.
