To Wear The Badge by E. A. Machado is an attention engaging historical novel which is set in Texas during the mid- nineteenth century when the West was a wild frontier. Charlie and Tyler Lode, a father and son who are both members of the Texas Rangers, and who find themselves in conflict when the Civil War divides America in two. The sudden and severe changes taking place in Texas places people and families into having to choose their loyalties and make personal determinations regarding the division between right and wrong. To Wear The Badge is a quintessentially human tale and very highly recommended reading for western novel fans.
