Create a local "Make a Difference Plan" Mar 19, 2006
"Making a Difference" offers a compendium of specific ideas and suggestions how to move in the direction of maximizing resources to assist in your local community. As such, the concepts are well suited for the extreme poverty conditions so rampant in the USA supposedly the most advanced country in the world. Dr. Hackett "says it like it is." She has combed her community to find so many in need, and her book clearly can stimulate anyone inclined to set about making a difference to do so. By the time the reader arrives at the final chapter in the book, there is a concrete outline to assist anyone in creating a local "Make a Difference Plan," which is the best way to review this book. This reviewer, therefore took it upon himself to create a local "Make a Difference Plan," based on the templates in Chapter 9: http://ABC4All.net/madp.htm The book needs to be translated into other languages and perhaps local editions can be written for countries around the world.

make your charity count! Nov 20, 2005
Rebeccasreads recommends MAKING A DIFFERENCE as a grassroots guide to how to make the most of your charitable feelings & actions. In the beginning Dr. Rhonda Hackett tells the story of how her life suddenly changed & she set out to find what she really wanted to do with her time & resources.
In this post-9/11, post-Tsunami, post-Hurricane Katrina, post-Himalayan earthquake, are you in charity overload? Have you been burnt by writing a check to a fake charity? There are tens of thousands of legitimate charities at home -- especially the food banks in the Northern Hemisphere winter -- & around the world -- in need of your donations in order to keep offering their much-needed services to the countless men, women & children. So, how do you choose? & if you're on a fixed budget, what else can you give besides money?
For everyday people with budgetary concerns, MAKING A DIFFERENCE will indeed make a difference in the way your practise your personal philanthropy & how you spend your time & resources in extending your generosity.
