New York Times best-selling author Dr. Pamela Peeke helps readers trim their waists, shed pounds, and lengthen their lives in her witty, tough-love functional fitness and lifestyle plan.
With more than 300,000 copies in print, Dr. Pamela Peeke's New York Times bestseller Body-for-LIFE for Women has helped scores of readers transform their bodies. Her newest book shines light on the heavy weight of the 21st century lifestyle, with its fake food, desk jobs, clutter, and endless stress, and asks readers, "If your life depended on it, could you run up four flights of stairs right now? Are you Fit to Live, not only to survive, but to enjoy life?" For most people, the answer is no and they don't know it.
Combining Peeke's trademark in-your-face wit with heart-stopping reality checks, Fit to Live offers readers an active health/lifestyle assessment: How many pushups can they do in 2 minutes? How many servings of processed foods did they eat today? Peeke translates those results into research-based predictions of readers' long-term prognoses and helps readers gauge just how much fat—mental, nutritional, physical, financial, environmental—to cut from their toxic lifestyles to become Fit to Live. Showing how these five core areas intertwine, Peeke offers bottom-line strategies to adapt and adjust to life's stresses; get a stronger, leaner body; enjoy greater financial security; and create a healthier living space. Readers will become Fit to Live and lead dynamic and exciting lives, both now and for the future.

Reviews - What do customers think about Fit to Live: The 5-Point Plan to be Lean, Strong, and Fearless for Life?
Wonderful Book Mar 11, 2008
I watch the Discovery Health channel. This year's National Body Challenge featured Dr. Peeke as its primary doctor. Although I like her, I was a bit skeptical of Dr. Peeke's book. After reading some excerpts from it I decided to give it a try. It was a great read- I felt like I was getting a tailored plan for life. However, the plan is not too strick. She suggests small changes in lifestyle that give you drastic results in the long run. I also see many obstacles alot clearer now. I LOVE THIS BOOK!
Overall Good Advice, Easy and Fun to Read Jan 28, 2008
This book is a straight-forward, easy to read guide to helping yourself create a well-balanced life. While you may want to pick it up for weight loss, that is just one of the benefits of this book. There are lots of self-evaluations and journal work you can do. Also worksheets in the back to photocopy and use. I was most impressed that the author included suggestions for vegetarians! The one thing that was a bit annoying was that the majority of the tone of the book was aimed towards married people with kids. For example, a question in the self-evaluation will say something like: "You return home from work to a three-alarm emergency and your kids won't leave you alone. What do you do?" Well, if the answer is I live alone and that doesn't happen, it skews your results. I would still rate it highly and this was only a small inconvenience amid the good ideas and helpful advice.
Timeless Aug 1, 2007
This is the best way I have found to keep up motivation. I'll listen to Dr. Peeke while walking and she is so inspiring that my resolve to lose weight and stay fit is constantly renewed.
Good Motivation Jul 17, 2007
I bought a pedometer to calculate my steps on an average day of raising 3 little girls. 10,000 is the goal according to Peeke. This book is very motivating and easy to listen to. Her voice is well suited for a cd.
Dr. Peeke is the best Jul 15, 2007
Wish I could have a personal consultation. I've seen Peeke on Discovery TV Health Challenge and this is the second audio version of her books I've purchased (as well as Body for Life for Women). She makes so much sense and keeps on top of the latest info--plus shares her insights from personal practice. Her advice is keeping me fit and healthy as I face the mid-life challenge!
