Great book for couples!! Dec 28, 2006
My husband and I have read this devotional and LOVED it!! The questions after the stories spark deep conversations and it's a great way to spend some one on one time with your spouse after a long day.
Jessica's review of the above book: Aug 28, 2006
This devotional for couples has been a delightful read thus far. Please note, however, that my husband and I have only read the Sun., Mon. and Tue. devotional. Every day you and your spouse read a 1-2 page story or article and one bible verse relating to the same. The reading is followed by questions that you both answer to help you get to know each other's thoughts on certain topics that come up in marriage. I think the questions are an important part of this devotional, as they really create the opportunity to discuss topics you may not have brought up otherwise. After you read the story and answer the questions there is a short prayer that you and your spouse pray together. This is an easy way to introduce praying together into your relationship. This devotional has the potential to really solidify the bond you already have or create one, if needed. Please note that if you are looking more for a devotional that will allow you to complete a bible study together you may want to look for something else. This book definitely prods you to include God in your relationship, but it doesn't specifically focus on "bible study". Also, you may note that each daily devotional will only take about 15 min., which is good if you are tried for time. Please remember this review is only based on three days of reading; I have no idea if the book is going to do a complete turn around. Enjoy and may God bless your marriage!
The book that saved my marriage Aug 25, 2006
When my husband and I came across this book a couple years ago, we were in a pretty bad spot. The strain of both of us working and trying to raise a family had brought us to the edge of a very unhappy place, and we were unsure of where to turn.
In our daily lives, we had forgotten how to connect with one another, even how to communicate effectively about anything except our children. This book helped us to rekindle our lost identities, as well as our strength as a couple. The questions at the end of each day's readings encouraged us to listen to one another. I recommend this book 100%. We passed our copy on to another couple who will hopefully be helped through their own trials.
BEST DEVOTIONAL EVER WRITTEN!! Feb 26, 2006
If you only own one couples devotional, please let it be this one. I bought this book for my wife for her birthday and she thought it was a silly gift, that is before I began to read it to her nightly while we were in bed. This book has truly strengthened our marriage and our communication. The stories are insightful and uplifting and the time you spend with your spouse will be worth every penny. Your love for one another will grow. God bless.
EXCELLENT Oct 21, 2005
we are only through the first few chapters but LOVE this book...it is VERY ENCOURAGING, as many devotionals make you feel 'bad for your lack of faith' as this one congratulates you for putting time aside daily...truly inspiring and great for our relationship as well!
