Item description for Searching for Heaven on Earth: How to Find What Really Matters in Life by David Jeremiah...
Overview From the author of "Captured By Grace" comes this look at history's most successful man, Solomon, which challenges the reader to find what really matters in life.
Don't you deserve a little happiness?
They are the questions that plague us:
Is happiness within my reach?
Why is life so frustrating?
Is it too late for me?
Or to put another way, "Where can I find a little heaven on earth?"
History's most successful man, Solomon, wondered just that. As Dr. David Jeremiah shows us, he was a man who tested life's haunting questions head-on. And tasted life's riches full-on. And who found his answers in the last place he thought to look.
Listen, then, to his voice. A voice that, if you pay attention, will speak directly to your flesh and bones and heart. A voice that admits: Maybe happiness is an empty hope. Or maybe we've simply been looking in all the wrong places. . .

Reviews - What do customers think about Searching for Heaven on Earth: How to Find What Really Matters in Life?
Excellent Book full of pearls of wisdom! Dec 28, 2009
This is a 31 day study on the wisdom of Solomon from Ecclesiastes. Jeremiah offers valuable insights on Solomon's thoughts on wisdom and folly, on chance and purpose, on life and meaning. It is interesting that a wise man such as Solomon so often refers to everything in this lfie as utterly meaningless, and the utmost of vanity. Yet Jeremiah is able to draw from that very meaningless perspective and discover the meaning inherent within. Jeremiah loves to use alliteration, and he does so with ease and simplicity, though some of his word usage is a bit of a stretch (juxtaposing cross and crass, for example). God's Plan is Good, God's Purpose is Clear, but God's Program is Mysterious. True! Or so we believe. Yet it sometimes seems that even Solomon in all his wisdom questions each of those 3 statements. Ecclesiastes is a challenging book to understand, and at times it is difficult to align it with the rest of Scripture. Jeremiah does a nice job of putting things into context and clarifying the nuggets of wisdom that lie within these pages.
Without God Life is Without Meaning Nov 5, 2009
Dr. Jeremiah's explanations make Solomon's life pertinent to our own day and time. Things have not changed since Solomon's time. Life without God, life is meaningless. Conversely, life with God brings meaning and purpose.

This is a wonderful book to read or study with a group. Also an excellent gift for someone who likes David Jeremiah and likes Christian reading. You feel as if everthing that happened hundreds of years ago was written today. Nothing new "under the sun."
