A wonderful book Jan 10, 2007
Not only does it have dollar stretching ideas for your kitchen, it has a lot of nutritional information as well. I recieved my first copy as a gift and have since purchased many for others.
Wise use of food products Nov 9, 2006
This cookbook introduced me to the concept of formulating complete proteins using only plant products. It also charts caloric intake needs for people of various ages. This helped my family budget by reducing our costs for meat products. The oatmeal cake recipe is an oatmeal based sweet treat that everyone will love.
I've used this book for almost 30 years Nov 7, 2006
This was my "bible" for cooking for the first decade of my adult life, and I still use many of the recipes frequently. I have bought it as a bridal shower gift several times.
the one I look in first Sep 17, 2006
I love reading through cookbooks and finding new recipes. But I always turn to this one first since I know I'll usually have the ingredients I need, and it will be good no matter what I try. I grew up Mennonite, now live in NYC, and I will always appreciate the simple yet wide-ranging scope of the recipes. I've had this cookbook for almost 20 years and highly recommend it.

I love this cookbook! I like its conservative approach with money and fat and sugar, and I like the broad range of recipes and the recipes themselves. I'm a vegetarian, but although this cookbook has meat recipes in it, too, I don't feel excluded.
