More About Dori J. Chaconas & Deborah Perez-Stable
Dori Chaconas was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1938. The second child in a family of seven, Dori fell into the role of storyteller, nursery rhyme singer, and general entertainer for her siblings. She claims she learned about story pacing early. If the story action lagged, her fidgety audience would either scatter or start a poking war.
She has been married to Nick, her high school sweetheart, for 44 years. Everyone says the romance will last. They raised four daughters, and are now enjoying three grandsons especially Grandpa, having been outnumbered by women all those years.
When their daughters were young, Dori wrote for them. She published three picture books and more than fifty stories in children's magazines. In the 70's, her interest turned to yarn embroidery design and she sold designs to major needlework companies and national magazines.
In 1997, Dori started writing stories again, partly to keep her grandsons from fidgeting or starting poking wars. Her stories reflect the warmth of family life. Dori gives credit to her parents for giving her a strong sense of family, and to her children and grandchildren for keeping it alive.
Dori J. Chaconas currently resides in the state of Wisconsin. Dori J. Chaconas was born in 1938.

Beautiful illustrations and classic repetitive text takes mom and child through the four seasons of the year. This book will become a bedtime and story time favorite that will be read over and over again. Perfect for any stage of early childhood as well as for young readers. Research shows that reading aloud to your child enhances their cognitive abilities.

Beautiful illustrations that can touch any mother's heart! This makes a lovely gift for a new mother and one that can be read to her child. Great book for an early reader too! This book reminds us that babies are a gift from above.
A Lovely Book Perfect for Gift-Giving Jul 15, 2008
Baby's Song is a lovely story in rhyme that portrays the seasons of the first year in a baby's life. It also gives thanks to God for all of the blessings that have been given in each season. The lyrics are charming and whimsical: "Splash-a-kicky! Splash-a-kicky! Splish! Splish! Splish! God has made the ocean waves for my little fish."
The illustrations are exceptionally beautiful. Done with colored pencils, they are so detailed and life-like that one cannot help but marvel at them. It is fun to see the age progression of the baby as she gets older in each season. On the cover of the book is the young baby. If you flip the book over, the same girl is pictured in the garden as a toddler.
Baby's Song is perfect for sharing with toddlers and pre-school-aged children. I think it would also make a nice baby shower gift. I intend to get a few copies for my friends who have recently had babies. I shared the story with my children, ages four and seven. They thoroughly enjoyed the book. My daugher, an aspiring artist, was inspired to try her hand at duplicating the illustrations. I think this book is a lovely additon to a child's library that will be treasured for years to come.
