Mister Archey 's Story Nov 26, 2007
I did not like this book. The book was not very well written, and there were many grammatical errors and misspelled words, making it a more difficult read. It was not a compelling story, and it was a story about a lifetime of denial.
I felt sorry for the young Archey who was abused in the foster care system, but it seemed to me that he protested too much about being "raped" by men as he got older, and began to get high, stay high, lose his finances, and live on the streets.
I would have had more sympathy if he had honestly said that he was Gay, and had contracted AIDS by sleeping with someone infected with it, or by using dirty drug paraphenalia instead of being vague about his experiences. He continued to have sex, knowingly spreading AIDS to other people, and he hides behind The Bible and God's forgiveness as if that makes what he did before allright!
Being Gay is not a sin...but lying about it is, in my opinion. There's passages in the Old Testament about homosexuality, but in my mind, when Jesus was born, he brought Love to everyone, and it's not for us to decide who goes to Heaven, or to judge someone here on Earth. Preachers who preach hatred because someone is different, are doing exactly what Satan wants them to do!
Mister Archey does not admit that he is Gay, when in fact, if he would just be truthful, he could more effectively help those who are afflicted with AIDS, and educate those who do not have it but who could be at risk. Instead, he profits from the disease while claiming that he's doing it because Jesus told him this is what he is suppose to do!
The next time someone asks, "Pastor, how did you get AIDS?" Just say the words, "I am Gay, and I contracted AIDS by having sex with other men who had AIDS but now I want to make it better for everyone else by spreading the Love of Jesus through His Gospels. Open people's hearts, Mister Archey, not their wallets.
Past board member of Archey Aids Foundation Sep 16, 2007
This book is not a real and true version of what we know about Pastor Donald Archey's experiences relating to what has happened here in Ft Wayne, Indiana.
I am a past board member of Archey Aids Foundation. Pastor Archey was forced to resign from that organization after it was revealed he had misused grant monies taken in by Archey Aids Foundation.
The stories in this book have very little resemblance to the stories Archey told me regarding his past life.
Archey has misused his being a minister in order to promote himself personally.
Please refer to a January 7, 2007 article in the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette by investigative reporter Dan Stockman. The details of the investigation are revealed in that article.
The children's program we were doing at New World Church was ended when Archey was fired from that church for improper activities.
It is SO sad to see a person abuse funds taken in for the purpose of helping others.
