To God Be the Glory Nov 2, 2007
My wife and I are committed listeners to The Family Life Network. We've always enjoyed "Focus on the Family," with Dobson. The music is all Christian, and some of the stuff is very interesting. We love The Morning Show with John and Denny, and The Randy-Man. The Randy-Man is Randy Snavely, son of Dick Snavely, author of this book. I never figured I'd be into a book concerning FLN's history. That is, until I talked with Randy Snavely for a good 15 minutes one night, and I changed my mind. It was a great conversation! Randy always tries to keep John and Denny in check, but ends up provoking them half the time! Plus I live in Franklinville, New York, so I was a little curious as to what happened in those days in Western New York. Quite a lot, and Dick Snavely tells his story of how it all got started.
Dick Snavely didn't have to be fancy to tell the story. He told his own story in his own words, and it was interesting. The childhood stories are classic, some of them flat out hilarious! From tobacco fields to shattering glass, to a Mennonite upbringing, he really hides nothing. He talks about his education, how he never took it seriously at first, and then in college took in very seriously. He takes his commitment to Jesus Christ very seriously, and he takes Family Life Ministries very seriously. The stories come from a faith, and God gets all the glory in each instance. Dick Snavely never strays away from the fact the God gets all the glory in every situation! "To God be the glory" will always stick out in my mind after reading this.
Being a first time author shows a bit in this, but that's minor. Allow yourself to get caught up in this! I did. I'm glad I did. I'm blessed to have had a conversation with Randy Snavely. Dick Snavely shows us the measure of a man in this, and he shows true heart through every page. It teaches a lesson in giving our all. It demonstrates how we should give God the glory each and every time! To God be the glory! Thank you, Dick Snavely.
