Publishers Description Dennis and Barbara Rainey, founders of FamilyLife, help couples establish the important daily habit of praying together, offering personal stories and answering questions about the dynamics of prayer. Daily entries -- including a short devotion, questions for reflection, and a prayer -- take husband and wife through topics related to prayer, spiritual growth, and key marital issues. ""Sweetheart, let's pray." " In the press of daily living, preserving a private moment to pray with "and for" your life-partner can be tough. Yet joining hearts before God is the single most transforming, intimate experience in marriage--a simple act that will fill your life, your relationship, and your home with wondrous love. "A time to listen, a time to touch, a time to connect with what matters... " Dennis and Barbara Rainey tell how a decision to pray together daily strengthened their understanding of one another, reduced conflict, and knit their hearts together in a deep, spiritual bond. Their thirty days of reflections can do the same for "your" relationship--"starting today "
From Publishers Weekly The cofounders of FamilyLife, a branch of Campus Crusade for Christ, bring
their insights to the matter of a faith-filled marriage in the latest
installment of their Family First series, a 30-day prayer devotional designed
for husbands and wives. "Praying together may be the single most important
spiritual discipline you and your spouse will ever share," say the Raineys
(Growing a Spiritually Strong Family and Moments Together for Couples). Using
personal anecdotes as well as stories they've encountered through their
ministry, they propose that prayer with a spouse can reduce conflict, protect
against divorce and even improve a couple's sex life. Each day of their
devotional includes suggestions for prayer and a reflection section designed to
spark deeper thought and discussion. Although geared toward marriages in which
both partners are committed Christians, the book appropriately offers ideas for
those whose spouses do not share their faith. From practical advice (how to
pray) to spiritual generosity (prayers for the salvation of all people), this
little volume offers readers warm encouragement in their prayer lives. (Feb.)

Reviews - What do customers think about Two Hearts Praying as One (Family First)?
Good Start May 18, 2007
We've been reading this book for nearly one week now, and even if we miss a day of reading, it has encouraged us to still pray. It is helping us to focus and directs our prayers, instead of the "routine" prayers. The book also asks questions and created communication (though we are not always up answering it still puts the thougts in our heads). It is also a very short nightly read, so it is easier to pick up when tired than a longer devotional. I thoroughly enjoy the works of D&B Rainey, and this little book is no exception. It will make a great wedding gift too - what better way to start a marriage than by praying together every night!
Great 30 day couples prayer experiment Nov 21, 2003
The introduction states, "Praying together may be the single most important spiritual discipline you and your spouse will ever share." A strong claim, but I fully agree and this book is a great way to start or develop that powerful discipline of prayer together.
The book has 30 brief daily readings, and each reading also includes a question or activity for reflection and a sample prayer or prayer points for the couple to use as a springboard to pray together. Not only does going through the "30 day prayer experiment" of this book develop this important habit, but the chapters bring up a lot of great topics of discussion, biblical truths to consider, marriage and family building habits, etc. Great stuff!
