Reviews - What do customers think about Doing Business God's Way?

At first glance this seems to be a good general guideline for how a Christian business man should view his business as ministry. No arguments. He makes several good points as to how we (Christians in general) wrongly make the distinction between "full time" ministry and lay people. No arguments there either. But when you read this book with some knowledge of Peacock's esoteric agenda, you begin to understand that the scope of this book is far beyond "business." As the book progresses it steers away from "marketplace" and talks more and more about the cosmos waiting to have man come and rule it and a call to "Christian radicals" to radically change the church and the way we Christians "do business." When looked at through a discerning view, Peacocke can't back up his ideas with scripture. Nowhere in Scripture are we told that the "cosmos" is ours to take possession of now. Rather 1 John 2:17 tells us that the "world is passing away." Peacocke, a partial preterist, does not understand that we are "sojourners and pilgrims" [1 Peter 2:11 of this world] and that our inheritance is the world to come. I believe Peacocke ultimately looks toward steering the focus of Christianity away from the salvation of individual souls to some sort of progressive redemption of creation through man's efforts: dominionism. He echo's the ideas that are more drawn from Marxism (his background) and Mysticism than from Biblical Christianity. Jesus is mentioned so little in this book that He may as well be relegated to a foot note. The salvation message is totally absent. Buyer beware.
A Truly Wonderful Book Feb 20, 2008
I fully endorse all of the existing reviews on this book, and I'm eagerly awaiting the new edition. What delights me is how it brings together into an understandable whole so much from the Old and New Testaments. The parables of Jesus and many of his sayings suddenly take on a new life. As I read through it (I am on my 4th read - it definitely repays reading again and again), I keep having "lightbulb moments" all the way, and my second-hand copy is full of underlinings and exclamation marks. I lent it to my Bible Studies teacher and he was impressed, which is a high recommendation indeed. If I could have only one other book apart from the Bible to help me along the path, this would be IT. Way to go, Dennis!
Great New Year Motivator Jan 3, 2008
This book is an excellent study on understanding how every person can "do business God's way." Don't feel that you have to be a business person to enjoy this book. It contains 12 life principles that if followed will empower you to discover and fulfill your destiny. I have used this book in small group studies for our Marketplace Ministries class and it is enjoyed by all and said to be very practical while theologically sound. It provokes questions and answers questions that you've always wondered about. A must read for every person that is unsure of God's business in their life.

A friend gave me this book and it is one of the most annointed books I've read on this topic. I would recommend it to anyone interested in marketplace ministry.
Real Impact in Our Lives & Business Sep 3, 2003
My father, brother and I work out of the same building. We studied Mr. Peacock's book together. The old principles he helps us remember and understand have been practical for our graphic design, network administration, and CPA businesses. DOING BUSINESS GOD'S WAY has changed the way we plan, purchase and hire. We highly recommend this book.
