Knowing up front that this story was an allegory greatly buffeted my ability to enjoy it. While not an arduous read, this book will best be read several times. The lessons are that important. All of us have faults and imperfections we would like to have swept under the rug. Maybe bringing these faults to light and learning from them is the best way to stop future generations from suffering the same fate.
Perhaps since many have their own tattered gowns, this story will be uplifting. Ms. Henderson shows us that we should not forgive and forget, but forgive, heal, educate and prevent.
