Item description for Knit Together: Discover God's Pattern for Your Life (Thorndike Press Large Print Inspirational) by Debbie Macomber...
Overview The author shares her life story as a means of counseling women about God's greater purpose in their own lives, in a personal account that explains how to recognize divine intentions.
Publishers Description Debbie Macomber calls KNIT TOGETHER the project of her heart. Whenever she speaks, her theme is simple: don't be afraid to dream. God created us for a reason, and when we come to recognize our deepest longing, we can discover His plan for our lives. Full of encouragement and divine empowerment for women, the book centers around the Bible's assurance that God knits each one of us together in our mother's womb. Debbie deftly weaves her own story throughout the book, using the knitting theme of her most recent bestsellers to create metaphors that explore God's handiwork in creating us for a purpose.

A Definite Must Have For Your Home Library May 26, 2008
When I'm glancing through the pages of this site or browsing through the bookstore with my coffee in hand, I am typically looking for something that "jumps out" at me. This book did not, yet, I became strangely drawn to it.
I can only conclude that I was prompted by the Holy Spirit to buy this book because for what it's worth the name and the cover did not persuade me. I can't knit a lick. You would only need to ask my Nanny Ruthie about this and she will confirm that my coordination is somewhat lacking in this department. And well, the title of this book is "Knit Together".
I immediately knew it would be a metaphor that I might not understand but I picked it up anyway. I opened it up, flipped through the pages and stopped on this scripture:
"For you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made." ~Psalm 139: 13-14~
"Hmmm", I thought, "now there is something that I would love to learn more about."
I brought this book home and tossed it into my pile and continued reading the other 6 (yes, it says 6 no need to grab your glasses!) books that I had already begun. Then one day I got curious and so I sat down and perused the first few pages with only the intention to browse. Huh! I read 5 chapters before I could put it down.
This book spoke volumes to me about God's purpose and plans for my life and the dreams that I have surpressed for one reason or another. Every page delivered a profound message and with every completed chapter I felt like I had just had an encounter with God. He spoke to me through this book. He used Debbie Macomber as a vessel to give this little ole' southern gal a good swift kick on the backside (I mean that in the most Holy and inspiring way possible ;o). I took ahold of my dream after reading this. You can too!
The chapters include:
Created for Purpose Created for Dreams Created for Risks Created for Gratitude Created for Worship Created for Work Created for Blessing Created for Relationships & more!
Let Debbie befriend you and take you for a stroll down a path of inspiration. This ones gets 5 stars!
Wonderful book May 4, 2008
I have not read any of Debbie Macomber's other books, so I am not yet a fan. As a writer, however, this book spoke straight to my heart. She writes about how she became a writer and how she realized the Lord had guided her straight into this field. She speaks to her readers about finding their path, whatever it may be and to listen for guidance from above. Great job!
Great Book for Small Groups Apr 24, 2008
Debbie Macomber has written an excellent book for small groups to study. Using images and analogies that will be familiar with women everywhere, the author guides us to spiritual growth and relational intimacy.
Her chapters on "balance" and "laughter" are especially well done, and so useful in our stress-filled workplaces and families. Women of all ages, but especially married moms, will find this book refreshing and fun.
Don't wait for your group to choose it --- go ahead and read it on your own! But if you're leading a women's small group, consider this book as your next study title. It's very readable, very well organized, and will produce encouragement and hope among its other good results.
Well-written and encouraging: an inspiring read!!

I purchased three copies of this book, I gave them as Christmas gifts, one to my daughter, who lives on the other side of the country and is going through some difficult times, another to a dear friend, who lost her husband a few years ago and one for myself. The title "Knit Toghter: God's Pattern for Your Life" is a wonderful uplifing, inspirational book. I like to take this book to bed with me at night and read it. I highly recommend this book. Happy Reading, Edie~
