Item description for Dynamics of Pastoral Care, The (Ministry Dynamics for a New Century) by David W. Wiersbe...
Overview In our age of high-powered CEOs, pastors need encouragement in the biblical model of their calling to shepherd the flock of God. In this practical and concise addition to the Ministry Dynamics for a New Century series, David Wiersbe examines the role of shepherd in light of the duties of a pastor. Through a brief, biblical survey he highlights shepherds such as Abel, Moses, David, and Jesus, and underscores the vulnerable nature of sheep. Then he applies the principles of shepherding to the tasks of a pastor--building relationships, earning trust, listening, visiting, leading worship, and prayer. For those wanting to provide quality shepherding care to God's people, this book offers helpful insight.
Publishers Description Pastors are increasingly tempted to view themselves as high-powered CEOs. Wiersbe reminds them of the biblical model: shepherds to God's people. Practical and encouraging.

Reviews - What do customers think about Dynamics of Pastoral Care, The (Ministry Dynamics for a New Century)?
Back to the Biblical Basics! Sep 7, 2005
I'm using this book as a text to teach a class on pastoral care, and I love it! There is a myriad of books available today on what it means to be a pastor, ranging from titles bashing church growth techniques to works heralding the modern-day pastor as a church CEO. This book covers the Biblical basics of shepherding for church leaders and pastors, and covers them well. The author acknowledges a place for managerial skill, but he asserts that the primary role of a church leader/pastor is to shepherd the sheep.
I recommend this book enthusiastically!
Money wasted Oct 17, 2004
This is throwing money away on all these books.
The author knows very little about being a true Christian.
Spend your money on other things, but his books are stupid.
