Reviews - What do customers think about God's Plan to Protect His People in the Coming Depression?
Secular and Non-Secular Running Parallel Aug 1, 2006
Seldom does the secular and non-secular world agree with each other. However this is precisely what has happened.
We had just spent some time with our financial advisor to see, "...what condition our condition was in..." to borrow a phrase...
At any rate our advisor advised us to be debt free by 2010 because all the societal and financial indicators are pointing to a depression (not recession) beginning no later than 2010.
So shortly after our meeting with the financial advisor, I found this book by Dave Wilkerson, a man whose ministry is nearly impeccable (nobody is perfect...), with the title, "God's Plan to Protect His People in the Coming Depression". It was too coincidental to ignore.
Currently my husband is reading the book and has found it to be disturbing but hopeful. Once I read it I may be able to add additional review information.
What a Blowhard! Jan 5, 2006
Wilkerson is such a blowhard. My parents fell hook, line, and sinker for this jerk in the 1970s -- moved us all to a church to follow his glood and doom preachings. Can you imagine being raised as a child in the all-encompassing fear of his so-called prophecies. The man is a nutcase, he makes lots of MONEY from all of you who buy his endless publications spewing crap. Why doesn't he just call his next book "The Earth Will Fall Into the Sun" or "The Sky is Falling and our Genitals Will Fall Off"? I have a lot of anger for Wilkerson. I just wish my parents could for one moment see how they have wasted 30 years of their life following the path of a false prophet who has caused them no shortfall of misery, fear, and self-loathing. We should really all blame Nikki Cruz for not bopping this guy on the head with a baseball bat when he had the chance. Trust me, Wilkerson is no smiley Pat Boone. He's a millionaire publisher rolling in your money and laughing all the way to his ingot-lined safe.
Fear-mongering Aug 2, 2005
David Wilkerson is doing is this book what he has done for thirty years . . . freak people out and make them think that only by relying on David Wilkerson can they escape the judgment of God.
Wilkerson has been predicting doom for thirty years, and his prophecies have a long history of failure. (See his earlier books like The Vision written back in the early 70s, where he predicts that a food shortage in the 70s would "only get worse" in the United States until people are starving, or that churches will soon commonly allow nude dancing during worship, etc).
Unfortunately, Wilkerson fails to learn from his mistakes, and so now he's recommending that everyone start storing food for another supposed food-shortage. Actually, he started recommending this almost 7 years ago, so I'm guessing that anyone who followed his directions is starting to wish they had used the back bedroom for something other than storing canned soup by now.
He also talks some about the Great Depression . . . blames it in part on women spitting in spittoons. I nearly snorted my coffee out my nose laughing at that part. How looney does Wilkerson have to get before Christians stop taking him seriously??
One of the best for these latter times Feb 4, 2004
This book is so good. It talks about building a realtionship with the Lord, and having a spitutual life instead of focusing on the natural life. This is a call to draw close and be in His love so that all the normal everyday fears that are expected to come with the end times do not affect your life for you have your eyes on Him. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND IT, there is hardly any other book I've read like it. It IS God's answer for the worries and fears over what is going to happen, and how He will keep His bride from what shall come upon the world.
May the Lord lead you to get this book Aug 27, 2001
When faced with a harsh, sudden crisis, financial situation or lost of a loved one, it is very easy to panic, fret and doubt who is really in control of your life as a Christian. This book is truly a message from God to those who find themselves in despair during life's tribulations. It also exposes the destiny of nations, the United States among others, during an impending global economic depression. If you've been watching the news, and all world events, wars, stock market, and political globalization topics, you'll realize that those events are near, even at the door. Most importantly, the book deals with how, true Christ trusting believers, should prepare and learn the faith necessary to carry them through these tough times, instead of relying on the "false sense of security" that a good present job and a good present life provide. I strongly encourage you in the Lord to get this book. Probably the best you've invested in a long time.
