Matthew Wetherby's life is turned upside down overnight when his parents are killed in an accident while traveling the world, and suddenly he finds himself responsible for the family's multimillion-dollar trust. This is only the beginning of his new life, however, as he quickly learns that his tax advisor, Mae Smith, is a 10,000-year-old woman from another planet.
With a creative storyline, Llewelyn weaves a tale of galactic proportions as Matthew receives computerized subliminal learning skills to speed through his Master's Degree so that he can build a business that will not only change life on Earth, but will prepare Earth's inhabitants to be transferred to tachyon jump stations throughout the universe.
Although the plot is intriguing, the story does not transition smoothly from one scene to the next. Without any markings to signify a change in thought process and without beginning a new chapter, author Llewelyn switches between events and characters from one paragraph to the next. Each alien character has two names, which creates confusion for the reader as both names must be remembered and associated with the correct individual for the story to make any sense.
The book jacket and synopsis also fail to prepare the reader for the controversial issues that are raised by the author as he emphasizes in the first chapter, and continues throughout the book, to declare that the different religious affiliations on Earth are a façade created by Mae (GaMea) to manipulate humankind. According to the story, even Christ was from an alien planet, planted during the right time in history to coerce people into Christianity and thereby invoking a separation between people in an effort to create a new "species" of human. All other historical events, from the parting of the Red Sea to the assassination of Kennedy, are also planned and executed by GaMea and her colleagues.
A creative and thought-provoking story, A Wealth of Energy has tremendous potential but is lacking in ease of reading and page-turning suspense.
