A Divorce Book You Will Actually Read Mar 25, 2007
Our church is using this book for divorce-recovery classes. It's the first time any of us can remember that people are actually doing their homework. The stories in this book are so true-to-life, both negative and positive. A lot of other divorce books are too busy, too technical, or too full of one person processing "her issues" or etc. NOT HERE. This book is chock-full of realistic, reasonable, practical help you can use right now.
Barbara Sheldon, M.S.W. Divorce Care Coordinator also recommended: "Happily Remarried" by same authors (for blended families)
Why We Wrote This Book (By The Authors) Jan 1, 2007
Divorce hurts --- and just when you think you're "over it," the pain comes back stronger than ever.
After 25 years of learning from divorced women and men, we wanted to share some of the best ideas we've discovered by listening and learning. We sat down with divorced people and asked them about the pathway to healing --- what things helped, what things didn't work, where the frustrations were.
What we discovered was dozens of wise, strong, mature adults --- who have experienced the end of a marriage and have somehow not only survived, but actually become better persons --- and especially better parents.
The "5 Stars" above are for the divorced persons who shared their personal journeys with us --- the highs and lows, sorrows and successes of trying to recover from the end of a marriage.
If your marriage has ended, maybe what you need is not an "expert" but rather a friend who has "been there, learned from that" and who is willing to share what she knows --- or what he has learned.
Those stories --- drawn from real-life divorced women and men --- fill the pages of "Moving Forward."
If you take the time to read this book, thank you. May there be some light for your pathway and some fresh hope for your future within these pages.
