More About Freeman Concepts
David C Cook is a nonprofit organization dedicated to publishing and distributing leadership and discipleship resources to help Christians all over the world grow in their faith and pass it on to the next generation. We call this "DiscipleShaping". We were established in 1875 by David Caleb Cook in Chicago, IL. Since that time, we have published numerous bestselling books from The Picture Bible to Crazy Love by Francis Chan, developed over ten lines of Sunday school curriculum, and published many of today's most popular praise and worship songs through our music division, Kingsway.
Is that all Dave does?
As a ministry, we do more than just publish and distribute Christian resources. We partner with indigenous organizations to equip Pastors, Lay Leaders, and Sunday School Teachers with our materials in places like India, China, and Cuba. In some places (underdeveloped countries), we make them available at no charge. In others, (developing countries), we subsidize the cost to make them more affordable.
How does Dave do this?
You are probably familiar with a Hybrid Car. This car runs off two sources of fuel: gasoline and electricity. For David C Cook the surplus that is made from selling resources in places like North America, Western Europe, Australia, and more, is the gas. That surplus is used to cover all overhead, marketing, fundraising, and administrative costs. When the electrical component kicks in we use donations from passionate people like you—combined with the surplus we have—to deliver life-transforming materials throughout developing and underdeveloped countries where people do not have access to or money to buy materials. When you donate to David C Cook, 100% of your investment is going directly to deliver a discipleship resource to somebody in need. NONE of it goes to a salary, a building, marketing, or administration.

Reviews - What do customers think about Coffee Break with God (Take A Break With God)?
Wonderful Jan 10, 2009
I had been given this book as a gift several years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. This Christmas I gave seven out to friends as gifts and they are enjoying it also. It is hard for me to find time during the day to sit down and read which is why this little book worked out beautifully for me. It is along side my bed and at night I read just two pages before falling asleep. Nice way to close out my day.
Highly recommended for busy people Feb 27, 2007
I received this as a gift from a friend, and it is by far the best devotional I've read. Like the previous reviewer, I am a stay-at-home mom. I have a very energetic, strong-willed 3-year old boy. Life is non-stop and hectic, so I don't have much time to read long, complicated devotionals that take a lot of time. These are all quick but very impactful daily devotionals that are very deep and meaningful, despite their brevity. I apply them to every area of my life, and it is always just the thing I need for that particular day. Sometimes, I'll go back and re-read one that applies to a specific challenge I may be facing. This is one book I will keep with me always.
read it aloud each day Jan 26, 2000
The short stories are great for getting the day going each morning. Many, not all, but many of the stories are an awakening and add a nice, positive lift for the new day.
Great inspiration for someone not able to read full length. Sep 27, 1999
I am a stay @ home mom with a 3yr. old and a 10 mo. old. This is perfect for anyone who needs a pick me up. Just a couple minutes with God to begin your day or throughout your day. I enjoyed this and look forward to getting the rest of the devotionals. I plan to give these as gifts. I think it would be perfect. I hope you all read this and enjoy as I have. God bless you.
