Item description for Drive Thru History - Rome If You Want To (Drive Thru History) by Jim Fitzgerald, Focus on the Family & Coldwater Media...
Overview Stotts doesn't just talk about history, he lives it in fast, easy-to-digest road trips--like his trip to the Coliseum in Rome where he accidentally picks a fight with a Roman guard. Ideal for youth groups, homeschoolers, Christian schools, or families.
Publishers Description "Drive Thru History" is a joyride through the fast lane of time gone by, led by the irreverent but always relevant Dave Stotts. Dave doesn't just talk about history; he lives it x2014;in fast, easy-to-digest road trips. Take, for instance, the trip to the Coliseum in Rome where Dave accidentally picks a fight with one of those cheesy x201C;Roman guards x201D; who'll pose for a picture for a couple of euros. Suddenly, Dave is Maximus in a fight to the death (in his mind, that is). "Drive Thru History" makes exploring the history of Western civilization meaningful and totally entertaining.

Reviews - What do customers think about Drive Thru History - Rome If You Want To?
The review of a public school world history teacher Jan 21, 2007
While all of Dave Stotts' episodes may not be ideal for a public school classroom (too christianity-centric), they are all interesting, entertaining, educational and come with top-notch production quality. This is not a talking head video series!
Episode #3 of this disk (Phoenicians, Carthage, gladiators, etc.) does a great job of reviewing Roman history and covers how Christianity represented a break from Roman values in a professional (non-conversion-seeking) manner. Episode #3 will most likely wind up in the end of unit review of my rather lenghty Roman Empire chapter.
The other sections will be welcome at my home and my adult Bible study classes.
I give this series a solid "A"
First installment of an excellent series Jan 13, 2007
Watch Dave Stotts drive a Smart Car around Rome and fight as a "pretend" gladiator while presenting New Testament history in a highly entertaining way. I bought the first two disks for my kids, thoroughly enjoyed them myself, and will definitely buy the second two. Focus On The Family commissioned this excellent series. Sometimes Dave gets a little silly, and it's all in the name of making what could be a boring topic more interesting. The re-telling of the legend of the founding of Rome is hilarious, and to say more would be a giveaway. The audio commentary is unique - the filmmakers recorded it in a moving car while traveling through Colorado.
