Item description for The Sausage Situation (Jack Russell: Dog Detective) (Jack Russell: Dog Detective) by Darrel Odgers & Sally Odgers...
There's a thief at Doggeroo Dog and Sausage Day and Jack soon finds he has a Sausage Situation on his paws. Who is the canine criminal? Surely not Lord Red, dressed up as a corn dog, or the Squekes, who look like hairy wasps in their striped suits. When Jack calls for backup, pan-dog-monium ensues. There is going to be a terrier-able disaster if someone doesn't take matters in paw. Jack is just the dog for the job. But will he be able to crack the case of - THE SAUSAGE SITUATION?

More About Darrel Odgers & Sally Odgers
Darrel and Sally Odgers were both born in Tasmania in 1957, and have been married since 1979. They have two grown up children, James and Tegan. Their first book together was published in the 1990s. The Jack Russell series is their most successful collaboration so far, and they thank their inspiration, Ace, for that: " She was lively, opinionated, busy, and always curious. She loved swimming, and playing ball games of her own invention. We were out walking one day and Ace, as usual, was sticking her nose into everything. "She's a real detective,"said Darrel. We spent the rest of the walk planning the adventures of a dog detective! When we wrote up the proposal for the series, we had Ace sign it with a paw print, for luck. It must have worked, because the Jack Russell: Dog Detective series has grown to eight books, with more to come."

Dog Den mystery with a twist Nov 5, 2007
This is my favorite dog den mystery so far. There is a twist to the case, so it is much less predictable for the adults listening to it. My 2nd grade son (not an early reader) was able to read it fairly easily. Love the series, recommend them for 1st and 2nd graders, perhaps some 3rd graders too.
