A Must Read for Tween Girls! Dec 14, 2008
Danika McAllister has figured middle school out: it's not about who you are, it's about who you sit with at lunch. She's super-smart, she is so going to win the Miss Teeny Pop Pageant, and most importantly, she sits at the popular table. So obviously, she's got this whole sixth-grade thing down. But when one bad toss of her mom's famous Purple Flurb lands her in detention and may just eliminate her from the Teeny Pop Pageant, Danika has to wonder if what she really needs is some good friends to help her keep from making stupid choices.
Danika's Totally Terrible Toss is a cute, quick story for the tweener crowd, all about choosing wise friends and being one yourself. It isn't over-the-top Christian, but the theme is one Biblically sound--the kind of instruction that reaches out to the 8-12 crowd without making them feel like they're being educated. Young girls will easily relate to Danika and her problems and will want to claim her and her new group of friends as their own by the time they turn the last page. Packed with quotes about friendship, the girls' insights into what true friends are, and "secret" keywords you can plug into the Secret Keeper Girl website for recipes and fun tips, this is a book that will be a blast for girls to sit down with.
Danika is Totally Fun Nov 22, 2008
Since I always read a book before gift-giving, I read this book thinking that I probably would not make my way through the entire book, but I did read the entire book. It was silly, funny, at times goofy but it still had values to teach and content to make a young person identify with it. I think my 12 year old niece will really like reading it.

Dannah Gresh and her team of authors have totally captivated myself and my almost 8 year old daughter with their new Secret Keeper Girl Series. We are having so much fun reading together and talking about the "stuff" that is going on in her world. This is a terrific avenue for us to share and chat about what is going on and how we can work together. We are already making a list of her friends to start a Secret Keeper Girl Club. The books are very easy to read and understand and are affordable. Check out Dannah's website at [..] or [...]......we found a ton of information to help us along this journey.
