Item description for God Touches: Finding Faith in the Cracks and Spaces of My Life by Dan C. Gilliam...
Overview A close encounter with a lightning bolt, passing out drunk on a highway, and hitchhiking coast-to-coast ? these are just some of the experiences Dan Gilliam has survived to write about. From preacher?s kid to agnostic alcoholic and back again into the life of the church, follow his intriguing path to spiritual understanding and encounter godly grace along the way.
In God Touches, find out how bicycles can take a person to happiness and sobriety, how a loud-mouthed second baseman learned to love silence and solitude, and how savoring communion can mean more than stealing mouthfuls of sacred juice and crackers. Often funny, at times radical, and always interesting, these stories of one man?s return will inspire you to look into the cluttered corners of your life and find there the touches of God.
This faith memoir, a collection of essays chronicling the author's spiritual journey, allows readers to share one traveler's life experiences, and then invites them to see their own "God touches."

Reviews - What do customers think about God Touches: Finding Faith in the Cracks and Spaces of My Life?
An Original Christian Mar 30, 2007
Not being a Christian, I delighted in Mr. Gilliam's take on Jesus. This author strips away the noise of dogma and lays bare the bright kernel of Christ's affection for we dear silly humans.
I suspect Dan is a truly original Christian, much like the first ones were so long ago.
Stripped down Jesus Stuff Mar 28, 2007
I immensely enjoyed Dan Gilliam's book. His creativity is refreshing, and His insight is inspiring. He exhibits the ability to strip away religion and get down to the heart of the matter: our relationship with Jesus (and his love for us in spite of, and through, our brokenness) and how that motivates us to better our relationship with others.
A Breath of Fresh Hope Mar 28, 2007
I loved this book and ordered a second one right away as a loaner! It was deep, thought provoking stuff sprinkled with laugh out loud humor. I keep thinking about Jack Nicholson's line in a movie when he says "you make me want to become a better man". That is how this book made me feel...I want to think and write just like Dan Gilliam!
Exceeded Expectations Mar 23, 2007
In today's world of massive print publishing, there are relatively few quality styles among new writers. My general expectation of newly-published writers is that they are likely talented, but have not yet significantly learned their craft. Pleasantly, I can say that God and Dan (collectively) have developed a talent that remains unusual in today's marketplace. This is a first (published) work of which to be proud. That said, I'm now REALLY looking forward to the second, the Jesus Journals. I hope it's not too long in coming.
