don't believe what people say read it for yourself Apr 27, 2008
The people who write that this bible is full of Dake's opinions need to look at the statements of faith for their church. Who wrote these God or some man? Check the following definition of theology and systemic theology. Theology \The*ol"o*gy\, n.; pl. Theologies. [L. theologia, Gr. ?; ? God + ? discourse: cf. F. th['e]ologie. The science of God or of religion; the science which treats of the existence, character, and attributes of God, his laws and government, the doctrines we are to believe, and the duties we are to practice; divinity; (as more commonly understood) ``the knowledge derivable from the Scriptures, the systematic exhibition of revealed truth, the science of Christian faith and life.'' Systematic theology, that branch of theology of which the aim is to reduce all revealed truth to a series of statements that together shall constitute an organized whole. Isn't that what a statement of faith is? The doctrine of man. The people who right that Dake says this or that which is heresy go to [...]read their response letters. What these people say is wrong. A great many scholars of the past believed the things Dake has put in his bible because they are true. The pre-adamic world for example. E.W. Bullinger, And Clearance Larkin believed this. As to the claim that "Charismatics" quote Dake go to Benny Hinn's or the Voice of Victory web site they sale their own bible not Dake. If you want to learn the truth and not some mans theology get a Dake bible, Strong's concordance, and E.W. Bullingers Companion Bible. If you read the word of God from beginning to end and pray for God to help you understand all will be clear. The Catholic church deigned people the right to read the bible for many centuries so that they would not learn about all the wrong the church did and taught. If you study God's word you will see that what churches teach today is wrong, that is why they seek to condemn people like Dake. The truth would empty the collection plate.
AVOID THIS BIBLE AT ALL COSTS !!! Oct 22, 2003
An elderly gentleman at my old church recommended this Bible to me several years ago. He thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. I had forgotten about it until I saw the Bible listed in a catalog recently. I did some research and found out this Bible is full of false teachings. In fact, Hank Hanegraaff (AKA "The Bible Answer Man") of the apologetics group, the Christian Research Institute, had this to say:
"Perhaps the worst collection of false teachings is found in the popular Dake's Annotated Reference Bible. 'God ... goes from place to place in a body like all other persons,' says Dake, and He is just 'an ordinary sized being.' 'He wears clothes ... eats ... rests ... dwells in a mansion and in a city located on a material planet called Heaven.'
"On the very first page of the New Testament, Dake writes that Jesus 'became the Christ or the 'Anointed One' 30 years after he was born of Mary.' Even a biblically illiterate person who has watched the Charlie Brown Christmas Special (1965) or has sung Christmas carols should be familiar with Luke 2:11, which says, 'For unto you is BORN THIS DAY in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord" (KJV, emphasis added)."
For more info, check out the Apologetics Index web site or do a Google search for the words "Dake's", "Bible" and "apologetics."
There are much better study Bibles on the market than this. Anything is better than this.

The notes in this Bible are full of heresy, illogic and, at worse, bigotry and racism. To being with, Dake has a 14 dispensation scheme with lengthy descriptions of a pre-Adamite world ruled by Lucifer. Creation is known as "re-creation" and is explained by a rather lengthy gap theory (see notes on Genesis chapter 1, and the chart at the rear of the Dake), including "Lucifer's flood." While this study Bible is Arminian to the extreme, and is constantly harping on believers losing their salvation, probably the most extreme heresy concerns the nature and person of God Himself. On page 280 of the New Testament, he has a lengthy discussion of the Trinity. In this discussion, Dake teaches that there are three distinct persons with bodies in the Trinity, and that each one of these also has His own soul and spirit. There are many other heresies and ridiculous positions held by Dake, and the more ridiculous the position, the more stringently he attempts to "prove" it. Finally, Dake is a racist, as he lists on page 159 of the New Testament "30 reasons for the separation of the races." This is a grave error, as he misuses the Holy Scripture in a way I don't believe I have ever seen before. We learn that "God wills the races to be as He made them," and "God made everything to reproduce 'after his own kind,'" applying this to different races. What the Bible actually teaches is that the "one blood" of Acts 17:26 proves that there is only one race, the human race, and skin color is only ethnicity. I won't comment any further on this, but urge anyone who likes this study Bible to look at these notes on page 159 and then defend this work.
The Most Priceless Annotated Bible Apr 23, 2003
My review comes in 2 parts. First I'll deal with the Dake itself, and then the two versions, the Standard and the Compact, and which I'd recommend.
For Pentecostal, Spirit-filled, Charismatic, and Word of Faith believers, I could never recommend a more useful study Bible. It's chock-full of not only the basic teachings of Spirit-filled living (i.e., the baptism in the Holy Spirit, faith in God for healing, deliverance, and prosperity) but I'm sure you'll find thousands of insights you've never thought of. Once you begin your journey studing this Bible, you'll be surprised to see how many teachings are here that you heard before from a minister thinking they had fresh from the throne revelation, while all along they were reading the Dake. Yes, there are a few controversial theologies in here; the idea that the Father, Son, and Spirit, each have bodies, souls, and spirits is strange to say the least. But when you read everything Dake has to say on the matter, you'll see he insists the Bible teaches that God is a physical and tangiable as you and I, which is an utterly understated theology in most major branches of Christianity. Overall, Dake is quite balanced. I srtongly admire his unwavering courage to speak things that will without question bring rebuke from more religious critics. The Dake Annotated Bible is an absolute must for ANY Spirit-filled believer!
There are 2 versions of this Bible out, both available in hardback and bonded or genuine leather. The Standard is the original printing, in its original page layout and font. It is a 4-colum layout with the notes a size smaller than the already small Bible font. It's not at all a bad printing and I'd be quite happy with it if no other printing were available. However, the Compact is a tremendous improvement to the original. The term Compact really doen't apply, as its main Bible font is larger, as is the notes' font which has been enlarged to match the size of the Bible font. The type is much clearer and easier to read. The layout is good, too. It has 3, instead of 4 colums and each page has a full section of Bible text, with notes relegated to the sides and bottom.
Overall, either priting is wonderfull but the Compact is better. I have 2. Both genuine black leather, one Compact, one Standard. They are both top-notch Bibles. The leather is soft and well done. The paper is of the highest quality. Wonderful in everyway.
Get a Dake! You'll be glad you did!
There is much to commend in this tomb of love. May 27, 2002
A biblical exposition is hard to find and yet the wisom of dake fills a fallow heart with the spiritual wine of charismatic joy. The gifts of the spirit bubble forth from the west toward the east. They cross the Atlantic Ocean the the spiritual hot bed of Ireland's shores and express themselves on Bono's lips. This text is a living epistle of ecstacy and intimacy through prophetic utterance. Lay your hands on this dynamic text and you will never stop listening to U2. Give this a read promptly and fill your heart with joy.
