Menu for Romance May 30, 2010
Meredith Guidry has been in love with Major O'Hara for eight long years. But since the love is unrequited, she decides to make a New Years resolution to find someone that will love her in return--and be married by the next New Years. But then she goes to a hardware store and meets handsome contractor, Ward. Ward seems to be interested in Meredith in return, and asks her out on a date for that week.
Executive Chef Major O'Hara has loved Meredith as well, but his mother lives in an assisted living home and suffers from mental issues. Major is afraid that once a woman finds out about his "crazy" mother she will dump him. So he focuses on his work, keeping his mother and her issues secret.
When Major is offered the job of a lifetime, he has to decide whether to leave Meredith and her company to start his own restaurant. But his mother starts having more episodes and Major finds himself facing more than he can handle. Especially as he watches Meredith falling in love with another man. How can he win back Meredith, pursue his dreams, and take care of his mother?
MENU FOR ROMANCE is the sequel to Stand In Groom but it easily stands alone. I enjoyed reading Meredith's story and getting to know her and Major a little bit better.
The characters are well-developed, and the story is formula romance, with really no surprises. I did find the events leading up to the black moment a little too contrived, If you are looking for a good contemporary romance, then MENU FOR ROMANCE would be good to consider. This is a sweet romance, with no sexual tension between hero/heroine.

This was a fantastic take on the boy meets girl scenario. Very insightful and humorus. Loved the John Wayne references and look forward to continuing to explore the town of Bonneterre. Keep up the great work.
Don't read this if you are on a diet. Feb 28, 2010
//Menu for Romance,// the second installment in the Brides of Bonneterre series (follow- up to //Stand-in Groom) is a wonderful read for Christians and non-Christians alike. Main characters Meredith Guidry and Major O'Hara exemplify the adage falling in love is easy; acting on that love takes courage.
Between renovating her turn-of-the century Craftsman Bungalow and her high stress job as the Executive Director of Event Planning at the Vul de Ciel in Bonneterre, Louisiana, Meredith Guidry is living a full life. Still something is missing. At 34 years old she never thought she'd have no one to kiss on New Year's. Sending a heart-felt prayer into the universe, Guidry decides it's time to push aside her eight year crush on co-worker Chef Major O'Hara and find a new man for the New Year. When she meets handsome contractor Ward Breaux on New Year's Day, she thinks he may just be the answer to her prayers.
Chef Major O'Hara has loved Meredith for years. Yet a complicated family situation caused him to turn his back on that love, unwilling to burden her with his problems. Battling schizophrenia since his early teens, Major's mother can no longer live outside of a facility without constant care. Even with the help of the professionals, his mother's frequent episodes keep Major on his toes, always on the brink of chaos. All at once everything changes when the Chef is handed his dream on a silver platter- his own restaurant. Yet Major hesitates, can he care for mother and manage his own place? Worse can he watch Meredith find happiness with another man?
While the drama of the romantic triangle is enough to keep any reader turning the pages, truly the relationship between Major and his mother transform this simple little romance into, while not quite literature, just a little something more. Filled with complex characters dealing with real life problems, //Menu for Romance// has the reader standing on the sidelines cheering on as they race toward a happy ending.

Great book. Feb 20, 2010
I loved the first(Stand in Groom) and second book (Menu for Romance) in this series. This is the second book and I am very much looking forward to reading the third book titled A Case for Love. This book was a very fun read with a continuation of the first books characters as well since they are in the same family. I have read other books by Kaye Dacus and have enjoyed them all. It is safe to say I will own every book the comes on the market.
Another hit from Kaye Dacus! Feb 3, 2010
LOVED Menu for Romance! A great follow up to Stand-in Groom, which I highly recommend as well! A dash of fun and heap of romance with Major, a lovable chef and Meredith, the forever-single (or so she thinks) event planner. Sigh-worthy contemporary romance at it's best:-)
Would definitely recommend, and can't wait to read Case for Love!
